Opinions on the OPP count

I have been lurking on this forum for about 1 year soaking up a lot of information. I have come to the conclusion that I am just a casual player that likes to have a little edge. I only make about 1 trip to a casino a year. For the past year I have been studying and practicing the KO count. However I am thinking of switching to the OPP count or Fred Renzey's A/10 front count. With the yearly casino trip looming I feel confident in being able to estimate two decks for the A/10 front count and I think I can pick up OPP fairly quickly after studying KO.

I just wanted some opinions on whether or not switching from KO to OPP would be wise. Keep in mind my bankroll is laughable,only $700 (which barely qualifies for A/10), and I will be going to Vegas with my brother who has never been so there will be a lot of partying and drinking.

With the number of hours you're planning to put in, it doesn't matter what you pick.

My suggestion to beginners though is always hi-lo first. However, with your hyper casual playing plans, an unbalanced count may be better. Then I would suggest KO.

Yes $700 roll is laughable. I find it funny when people talk seriously about rolls so small that they could easily replenish it. You're going to play once a year. Are you going to keep track of that $700 til next year and try to build up a roll?

My honest suggestion if you want blackjack fun - basic strategy, get hammered with your friends, see then if you can even count, maybe even flat bet a lil more than normal if you want excitment

basic strategy > poor counting + no roll + very infrequent play

Just have fun imho
 
With a small BR, you have to avoid OPP. The spread alone will kill you.
A $700 BR is good for a weekend if you play $5 or less as a starting unit.
Sahara now has $1 BJ. The rules suck but $100 will go a long way and a few comped brews makes up for the rules anyway.
