PA Sands Horror Story

#1
So after waiting 90 minutes for a table (High Limit area was closed off), I finally got to sit down at a table. Everyone was playing Table Min, I was up for a while, so I was betting 100/200 hand. Newcomer comes in for 100 bucks, betting 15 dollars a hand. I get the unforgettable 4 split 8's/double down hand against a dealer 6...$1600 out on the table...He split's his 10's like an idiot, I give him the look of death and everyone else is telling him not to. "I can feel it" he says. And of course the dealer has a 5 underneath and a 10 comes out. I lost it...Everyone else at the table lost it. I gave the guy the look of death. "S---happens," he says. I yelled something, I don't remember what, got up and totally left the casino, I will never be going back there again.

I'm never going back there simply because I waited 2 hours for a $25 table...in the middle of a weekday. In that time I could have driven to Parx and gotten a $10 table.

Yeah, so what? He was doing you a favor by eating up all those 10's .The dealer had a 5/6 dd combination in fact as it turns out. You can't get bent out of shape over what other players do, so just play the math and rejoice and be glad.
And of course the dealer has a 5 underneath and a 10 comes out I gave the guy the look of death. "S---happens," he says.
Yes, it certainly does, and will continue to happen...all the time.

I may be missing something here, but why was he an idiot for splitting tens against a 6?
I personally don't do it because it is too hot of a move but doesn't the index for correctly making that split start around TC+4 ?? I am going to assume that you must have had a true count of at least that much to have been betting $200 per hand on what appears to be a $15 table.

The last eight words of your post are the only intelligant ones in the entire rant. Until you learn the game, take your own advice.

Look at it this way, if the card under it wasn't a 5 but 6 or higher you would be kissing the man. **** happens.

Rutgersgrad, that's not a horror story.
That was a common case of "variance".
You have much to learn about Blackjack.
Misplays of others don't affect your outcome.
You're not much of an AP.

You blame the guy for your loss. And you went ballistic.

Read Renzey's book before you play another game of BJ. The guy's play has nothing to do with your loss.

Chap last night told me that there are more low cards than high cards in a deck...which explains why the house wins :laugh::laugh:

I guess that's why we've never heard of the Rutgers Blackjack team.

Don't you know tha RA play was to either stand, hit or surrender that 8/8?:laugh:

Good one Nynefingers, ha, ha, ha.

I'm not into bad mouthing anyone, but as all APs know that was a silly statement. Sometimes other player’s decisions favor you at that moment, other times they don't. Rutgersgrad happen to notice the time it didn’t work in his favor.

Above all it has nothing to do with poor rules, or quality of PA Sands Casino, as one may think by the subject header, PA Sands Horror Story. "...I will never be going back there again." That type of situation is going to happen again and again wherever you go. Storming out of Sands and playing someplace else won't change a thing. My as well hang it up now as an AP, if you think others control your play.

Maybe the person splitting his 10s is also an AP. If the count was high enough for you to bet your max, it was high enough to justify the index play of splitting 10s. I love it when the ploppies notice that I split my tens when I'm betting a lot and I don't split tens when I'm betting a little.
