parting thoughts

Kewl, I only hope that your comments do not provide fodder for even more intense moderation, as many of
us are of the opinion that this community has already become over-moderated of the jack-boot variety. zg

A true story, a number of years ago a consistent poster on another site contacted me privately and wanted to meet and play with me, so I could help him with his game. The poster became more and more persistent that I do so,,,he was playing a poor game in the Midwest, on a river boat,,,,I basically blew him off. I stopped hearing from him, he stopped posting, then I received an email from his father, this poster was a graduate student, brilliant, and had OC, he lost the money for his graduate studies playing this poor BJ game, with poor conditions and killed himself,,that has haunted me ever sense, because had I cared enough, or listened harder, I think he would be alive today. So that is the real reason for my attitude towards trash games and the evil casino, not KewlJason  I simply cannot stand by while others may be enticed to play games that they have a very small chance of ever beating.
CP - i'll be honest and harsh here and say get over it. I don't mean that in the nasty way - but i've had several posters over the years persistently try to get me to meet and play with them - if i thought that they were all going to kill themselves because i didn't meet and teach them i'd spend all my time either training players that really will only ever have a passing interest and risking my longevity doing so or in thearpy. You can't predict other people and honestly hold no responcibility to anyone who you only know through posting online.
And if this guy killed himself - he had bigger issues than just losing a few thousand $$$. Something else in his life was seriously deficient.

KJ - i understand your reason, but honestly you'll be back. Whether today or a year from now - something about this board will draw you back in.
Sonny i'm sure can attest to the fact that i've made similar statements on a couple of occasions and while my posting did die off for a good while after that, i've always came back.
More than anything else - think about it - are you really going to let other peoples action decide what you do? I don't know about you, but i've always prided on myself on independant thought and action ;)

RJT.

I am going to make Canceler's day here by posting less than 24 hours after my self imposed ban. (very good daddybo)

2 poster made references to "toughness" or lack of it. I fail to see how choosing to, or not to post on a public board is any refection on one's character.

Moving on, I am overwelmed by the kind words and support in this thread, private reponses and Matt's "Jason poll". I thank Sonny and I Count & Track for allowing me to register my vote numerous times.

I have tried to participate often in the discussions, especially involving newer players, in an attempt to "give back" some for all the valuable lessons that I have learned from the members here. It feels good to know that effort was appreciated and that a few of you feel I helped you in some small way. Thank you for that. :)

However, this changes little for me. I am not angry or storming away. I just feel for me, logging on and posting several times is no longer worth the time and effort. I have positioned myself to be able to play more and better games this year than in past years and am off to a very fast start in what I hope will be a big year. I am going to concentrate my efforts more on my game. As I said, I will still read the board regularly and who knows I may occasionaly weigh in on a topic. ;) I just am not going to participate on a regular basis and absolutely refuse to get involved in these petty back-and forth's any longer.

First of all, daddy is always right! Here is Jason!

Second, good luck (variance) Jason. I hope you will share some of your new experience here and there. Take care.

Someone should do a study on people’s perception of time these days.

21forme was actually gone for 45 hours and 8 minutes, or less than two days. When he came back, everyone acted like it had been MUCH longer.
Felt longer.

I hear you. Just be open-minded when the experienced players here tell you that a particular game or type of game, or venue, can be beaten. I'm one of the several counters here who utterly hammer the supposedly unplayable games in Atlantic City, to great profit. It's not for everyone. But I'm sure there are people who hammer the riverboats too. AP's are very industrious.

Personally I like the moderation. Keeps this place somewhat professional feeling.

By leaving this forums you are essentially helping casinos save some of their money.

If you stay here, you will help and guide other counters take away the money from these bastards

As someone who is in the early stages of learning, I would hope you stay. I've learned from your posting, and also been inspired at times to continue putting in the work required to do well.

Thinking of just you, maybe some time away from posting is a good thing. You have "made it" if you will and have no where to go but up. It might not be a bad thing to post less personal stuff for pubic consumption as you move up and continue to do your thing. Maybe some day we will see a new book out there by KewlJ.

Either way, I hope you have continued success and happiness in life.

Thanks Jason,

I still doubt I'll ever play an eight deck game , thanks to you I know they can be beaten! Not many have that discipline. You've helped me improve my game and for that thank you.
It's just not the case IMHO that you are leaving due to any posts. Don't be afraid to stand on your laurels and defend the players stuck with poor games.
Awesome decision not to post exploits at good games. With the opportunities facing you, your decision to focus on it is the highest EV I've heard of on any board.
I hope, when you have time and need to unwind, you will continue to be a hero of those stuck with AC games and the like. Are we suppose to reside on this board with a CP just around the corner! ;) (We need ya both, monkeys welcome.) Don't let me get started on my theory of the necessity of dichotomy, I digress.

Thanks KJ,
Hope to see ya around.

kewl, im glad to hear your not 100% leaving. I think you are the (or one of the) most insightful posters on this site and we will all miss learning about your experience and knowledge.
