Player's cards, are they worth it?

Is it worth getting one of the player's cards for the casino? At my local store, I haven't got one but I've heard that the comps are pretty putrid anyway so I'm not missing anything. However, I figure if I'm playing a lot I probably shouldn't pass up anything free.

But does anyone know what is on these cards? Do they keep track of how much I'm playing or winning? Or can they tell how much someone has won? My sense tells me that it's probably better not to use one but I'm not sure? Am I just being paranoid?

My local joint tracks players on the computer, with or without a card. They monitor buy-in amount, wins, losses, amount wagered, playing time, etc. For me, it is worth it. I can't remember the last time I had to pay for my own room. I also like the steak dinner comps. I also get cash coupons every month.

If you use a players card while playing, you'll get something.
If you don't use a players card, you'll get nothing.
Everything else is just noise.

My last visit to LV, playing BS at Harrah's properties (primarily Paris), I put in about probably about 50 hours of play at low stakes tables ($10-$25).

My last total rewards statement said no tier points.

Any guesses why?

At Paris (and I believe most other Harrah's properties) you are not rated unless you have an average bet of $25. (I was told this by the pit boss after playing a ton. They're pretty slick about it. They take your card and put you in the computer so you think you're being rated, when you're actually not). So if you averaged $10- $25, your average bet was less than the $25, and you got nothing for the privilege of playing 50 hours of their wonderful 8 deck, h17 game. I learned the hard way. I stayed at Paris, played the $15 tables for about 30-40 hours, and had about 47 cents taken off my bill upon checkout. (The 47 cents was due to a small amount of time playing their crappy video poker). I got a royal flush for $1000 on a quarter machine, so I guess so I guess I shouldn't complain, but I haven't stayed at a Harrah's property since..
