Playing for the table??

#1
Last night I was playing at my local casino and was doing very well, went to a $15 table with $100 and cashed out with $350 in just over an hour. This guy next to me who is losing bigtime says to me "we have to play for the table", I said to him "I play for myself", he wasnt very happy with that reply. I had people playing behind me trying to influence my decisions on hitting or standing, I had 15 and the dealer had a 10 and this dude told me to stand, I said no way hit and caught a 5, its funny how the people who talk the most seem to have the lowest stack of chips, half wouldnt even know what BS is.
Anyone else have these situatuins regularly like me???

I accidentally encouraged the guy to my left when I hi-fived him when he hit a 13v5, ended up getting a good hand, and actually forced the dealer to bust. After that point, we were both in full-on voodoo mode. It was all well and good until I got a 14v8 or something, and he told me I should hit. It gets a bit hazy after that point, but I may have muttered "screw you, hippie" as I scratched for another card.

A bit, I used his anger as a good excuse to leave during a negative count.

I walked by later, and he was still at the table, but wasn't even playing his spot, he was just placing bets with one or two of the other players at the table on any given round, and was getting creamed.

I dont count I just use BS and a progressive betting format, I worked my way upto a $50 bet and the doubled and won, as soon as I lose a hand its back to minimum bet, so far so good. How i do it is win 2 hands, increase bet to next level, win 2 more hands and increase to next level etc etc.. On the table last night most people flat betting were behind or the same.

There seem to be only two types of players that I see.

Those who know BS perfectly, and ploppies who have no clue at all.

I normally don't have a problem with ploppies but I f***in hate it when they bag you out for 'loosing' them the hand and then when you win them the hand they say nothing. I don't know how many times I have had 12 against a 3, drawn a ten, and then had the dealer go T 8 and have everyone bitching at me.

What I really hate is those times when the ploppies have just drawn out like 7 tens in a row and you stand on 13 against a 5 only to have the dealer go 6 ten. "a low card was obviously next" "why stand on 13 it can't win"

What never ceases to amaze me is how dumb people are in general. Just look at how many people play keno, a game with >25% house advantage. Its amazing when people walk into a casino and happily empty their wallets of hundreds of dollars.

did you expect him to be happy with your reply?

it's up to you whether you want to draw attention to yourself at the table or not, to play along with other peoples' superstitions or not, to be as innocuous and invisible as possible or not.

all decisions that are up to you, that you have a great deal of control over.

i only piss people off when either they are pissing me off, harassing a good dealer, or taking up my cards in negative counts. otherwise i play along, befriend them and trick them into letting me go halves on their double downs. before i thought this last point was damn near impossible. i find now that i can get in on at least 2 DDs per hour, usually with people betting higher than me. you'll never get a chance to do this if "you're playing for yourself."

People playing behind me

Play behind me if you want. I do not care till you tell me what to do and then I know that you will be gone as soon as the hand loses. "That's my way of playing, maybe you should bet with someone else" Win and the guy stays but shuts up for a while, lose the guy is gone mumbling about my bad play but he should be mumbling about his poor choice of spot if that is what he believes.

Playing for the table?? Or as often put, playing as a team.
The rest of the table, the so called teammates, have never covered any part of a loss I might take and I have never shared a win with them, so how are we a team and how do you play for the table unless you know two minor items, the dealers hole card and the next card out of the shoe? Of course if you wish to buy my hand, in the right situation, I can be a teammate.
