I was a social smoker in my early 20s. After I had my first child, I'd join my husband for a smoke in the garage at the end of the day and finally quit even that. Didn't smoke for 20 years, then started social smoking again.

Outside the casino, I smoke about a pack a week. I don't even want to admit how much I smoke when I play blackjack.
Gambling always increased my desire for a smoke. Funny how what I thought I couldn't live without doesn't bother me a bit since I quit. But I agree with that Surgeon General who said that tobacco addiction is equal to heroin addiction. I must have quit a million times before I actually did quit for good. I don't blame anyone who still does smoke, yet there is no one who can fix it but you. Does the word, dilemma, come to mind? :(

They're gonna have to pry the Marlboros out of my cold dead hands.
Naw, that cig will fall right out of your dead hand. I had an aunt that I didn't like much that lived well into her late eighties and she smoked like crazy. On the other hand I had an uncle that I really, really liked. Cigs killed him in his early fifties.

smoking and toking

I smoke varied amounts, sometimes one pack sometimes more. It depends how long I'm working and the enviroment. It's a bad habit and it will eventually kill you and my friend that has lung cancer will agree. I have seen the studies that inducing alcohol on a regular basis increases the odds of cancer in general but greatly increases when tobacco is added. I don't drink so I guess it's a small trade off at least in my smoke filled mind.

Quit on 6/30/2008!!

Day I'll never forget! EVER!!! I finally broke the shackles -- I was a prisoner to tobacco!! Couldn't stay indoors more than for 15 minute clips -- then had to run outside - Smoked 2 packs a day for 15 years, 3 when drinking. :whip:

Stopped smoking -- started tasting food again , went to the gym... ohh.. and most importantly... I was able to take the $$$ saved on cigarettes and build a BJ bankroll!! :cool2:

oops voted yes. thought it was weed, tobacco is gross
Nick-O-Teen not Tee-H-See. Nicotine, one of the most cancer producing
chemicals known to man... Now, THC.... harmless- evidently. Some may even say medicinal!!
Can the mod change your vote??

Funny you mention that, I had smoked pot as a teen before ever trying tobacco, and the first time I tried a cigarette I inhaled it and held it in, just like a joint. Finished it in a couple of minutes because I was used to rushed, furtive potsmoking behind school buildings.

After spending the rest of the day vomiting, I decided cigarettes were not for me.

When I was a kid they called them "reefers" and they only existed in NYC schools to the best of my youthful knowledge at the time. But we did have beer, whiskey, and cigarettes. Nothing was cooler for a juvenile delinquent. :whip: I got so sick from my first experience of cigarettes (lucky strike--two of us smoked an entire pack) that I went straight to bed without dinner. But that didn't stop me. I was going to be a man even if it killed me! Real cool, man. :(

I quited smoke since 1996 (not permanently). I smoke only when I'm in casinos or I have some beers. :)
or, or... after sex and a good meal, and while I watch tv, that's all. hmm, how much time does this leave to 'not smoke'??:joker:

The first time I smoked I was just a little kid sittin on my dad's lap while he
enjoyed his cigar. This time I just had to try and sure enough he handed it to me. I smoked, seemed ok, by the time my mom walked in my dad was laughing, I was green and crying, my mom screamin.... yeah, real nice 'family time'!! ah the memories!
