at +1 for hi lo you stand. so yea generally in a positve count you stand.
that 3 card rule thing applies to single deck i think and its becuase more often then not you will have 2 small cards maybe 3 vrs dealer 10 which gives you a true count of 1 anyways but that doesnt take into consideration other players hands and what has been played before so it doesn't matter.

i mean against any card. I read somewhere that on any positive counts u stay with a 16 no matter what the dealers upcard is.
Absolutely NOT! This applies to a dealer 10 only.

Actually, in any positive count you should be standing against a ten. Does not even have to be +1. The Illustrious 18 also says to stand against a 9 when the count is +5 or greater. As far as I know you should always be hitting against a 7, 8, and ace.

I was playing in the early morning hours at my local joint the other day and employing a very modest spread at low stakes. There was one other guy at the table. He wasn't counting but was playing perfect BS and seemed to have a pretty good understanding of the game judging from his comments about the house edge and the dealer's probability of busting with certain up-cards. After one slightly positive shoe he told me he thought I might be counting. I just gave him a wink and told him not to tell on me.

A while later the count was pretty high and I had two big bets out which had multiplied thanks to two doubles. Unfortunately I didn't have a single total over 17. The dealer had a ten up and the same guy on third base had a 16. Keep in mind that this is a guy who has probably never deviated from BS in his life. He looked at me and said, "What do you think?" I said, "You gotta stay, bro." He said, "It's that high, huh?" I said, "Absolutely." He waved it off.

The dealer flipped over a six and pulled another six to bust (Kinda ironic that the low card helped us despite the high count). The other guy was thrilled and shook my hand. The (clueless) dealer looked at me and said, "How in the world did you do that? You're not counting cards, are you?"

Thanks for clearing up 16 v 10s for me.

But what about have 3 cards that totaled 16? should i treat that as any other 16 or should i stay?
Playing by count supersedes composition play, so if you're counting, use the count. If you're not counting, then you might consider staying on a 3 or more card 16.

Should i hit on 16s when count is positive? I heard somewhere that i should stay on 16s regardless of anything if i had 3 cards already. Is that true?
My recollection is that Casino Verite uses BS that will tell you to stand on a three card 16 Vs 10.
