ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Ever wonder what the difference is between "tastes great" and "less filling?" In one Atlantic City casino, it's $5,000. That's how much the New Jersey Casino Control Commission fined Resorts Atlantic City on Wednesday for having mislabeled beer keg taps at one casino bar on two occasions last year.

In March, one tap was labeled "Miller Lite" and another one "Miller Genuine Draft." But both taps were connected to a keg containing the light beer.

Regulators say a similar situation in August occurred in which taps labeled "Coors Original" and "Coors Light" were both dispensing the full-calorie, full-carb brew.

Resorts declined to comment.

Only $5000? I would be tempted to do this at other neighboring resorts knowing that the fine is so low (assuming that the chances of getting caughter are also pretty low).

That said, how much does one save by selling a light keg instead of a standard?

Probably nothing. Usually the guy in charge of switching the kegs in such a place is neither an avid reader nor expert in the English language, so it's possible he didn't even realize there was a difference. Light was substituted for regular and regular was substituted for light.

That's one thing about the casino industry in NJ though, they have zero influence over law. The authorities come around and collect money from them whenever they feel like it.

If it ain't from Germany, it might as well be hooked up to a goat's bladder as far as I'm concerned. "Deutschlander bier uber alles!"

American beer is like making love in a canoe.
It's fu@#king close to water.

Unless Resorts was taking advantage of some special offering, lite beer cost as much as regular beer.

:laugh::laugh: That's why I prefer Canadian beer. Lousy casinos, great beer. Hit me with another Blue babe!

This reminds me of a Simpson's episode when Homer and Barney are on a tour of the Duff brewery when they walk by a giant vat of beer with three tubes coming out of the same vat filling bottles of Duff, Duff light, and Duff Dry!

While mislabeling the beer at this casino is wrong, it's not disgusting like a bar in my city which just got nailed for recycling beer. They would take the beer left in patrons pints and bottles, put it back in the keg, add a little Co2 and resell it. Their liquor license has been suspended indefinitely.

I wouldn't go that far, there are some excellent American beers. Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada (especially the Bigfoot ale!) For good cheap beers you have Genessee Cream Ale, Rolling Rock, and...

American beer? That's that cold fizzy stuff, kinda like an off-tasting soda?
Thinking about the wrong barrels feeding the wrong taps, I'm surprised anyone could tell the difference.

The Original Sam Adams... not all this girly flavored beer. IceHouse and MGD not too shabby. For the Canadians, Blue rocks, Calgary is hoot (if you can find it locally) and Molson Golden OK. I'm wondering if Oly is still as good as it used to be.

Deutschlander bier ist sehr goot! Aber ich mag Heineken besser, und natürlich, Peroni.
