Somehow, AC hadn't figured out why they are one of the few casino venues that is continuing on a downward spiral of decreasing revenue. Most other venues around the country have at least stabilized, if not improved, over the last 6-12 months. it also amazes me that there are now plans to build another casino at the south end of the Boardwalk.

Could they merely have tightened up conditions for the Summer vacation season?
I mean, casinos change the felts all the time so it isn't too difficult to go from an S17 to an H17 table.
Summer is traditionally slow. Maybe they're just tightening up the rules to mitigate the summer "dip"?
Or maybe the heat forces more Vegas visitors to stay inside thus giving the Casinos a chance to fleece people?
Really, I'll be there in September... please don't tell me there will be no S17 at Aria or Bellagio for a $50/hand basic strategy player... that would kick my vacation in the balls. [oh god I sound angsty]

Look at the Carribean section and the recent Atlantis trip report.
Atlantis, a well-known ripoff that does NOT have many serious gamblers on premises, reverted back from H17 to S17 recently.
Atlantis has few real gamblers and not as much competition as in Vegas and they loosened up their rules.
Plus, I gamble during the off-peak hours (mornings and afternoons generally). That should at least improve my chances of getting good BJ. I should add I am a basic strategy player and so its not like I pose a threat to "game protection."

If I was a casino operator, I really don't have a reason to offer S17.
1) It normally doesn't change playing decisions of a ploppy, unless they are very superstitious about the soft 17.
2) Most players (say 95%) don't care for the difference between standing and hitting soft 17.
3) For the 5% who do care for the difference (which includes us card counters), they will be SOL, but they still have options. They can play a crappier (but still beatable) H17 game, or they can go to the HL room, where S17 is a 'premium' for playing there.
Now, if I was a casino operator, I would make sure that I have surrender on all my blackjack games. Even though the counter can take advantage of it, it is heavily outweighed by poor plays made by the ploppy.
