Showing ID to pit personnel?

#1
Does anyone here show their identification upon request to pit or casino personnel?

I often get asked for my ID by the pit- not because of suspicions of counting, but because I have quite a young looking face and nobody would think I'm older than 21 just by looking at me. (I'm 25) Sometimes I get asked before I even sit down. :(

Needless to say, my only real choice is to show my ID when asked- I don't want the casino to put some ridiculous charges on me for some reason. But it doesn't exactly keep me under cover when I start running amok...

Does anyone here not show their ID when asked? If you don't what happens?

You might try going to a security booth before you play and asking for a wrist band. Many casinos will give you a colored wrist band that shows you are of age so the pit would then have no reason to ask you for ID. If they do ask it is heat and you should refuse and leave.

Hey Slick...they may be asking to get you a players card, that may be all.

Don't let anyone BS you into showing your ID.

If you are young looking, the casino should and will ask for your id. No id, no play. The fines for underage players play are huge. Even if you present a players card, the pitboss should ask to see your id. Pros advice to get a wristband is spot on.

Don't worry about having to show your ID when you first sit down. That's pretty standard if you look under 30. Having to show your ID after having played is a problem, because they could either be just asking you because you look young, or because they want to use your looking young as an excuse to database you.

You're not being singled out by having to show your ID mid-session. It happens a LOT if you look young. My friend (ironically, the oldest of our group of friends) looked 14 when he was 18 and 18 when he was 25 - very frequently we would all get carded midsession because of him. At one point he got really pissed off because every new dealer and every new pit boss asked him for ID (5-6 times in 2 hours). The pit boss gave the answer shadroch gave - the punishment for getting caught dealing to underage customers is so big that even if a pit boss is 99% sure the previous pit boss checked, it's worth checking again because they're insta-fired if it happens on their watch.

I never knew about the wristband thing. It would have saved a lot of trouble for us when we were younger. My friend at one point resorted to playing with his ID just left out on the table so he didn't have to dig for it every 30 minutes.

Thanks to everyone, especially Pro21 for that tip about the wristband. I had no idea those things existed. Now I can get away with playing a bit more aggressively. The more you know!

I regularly use my players card, only because I know I'm going to get ID'd anyway, so there's really no point in trying to hide my name- I might as well rack up a few comps. Well, up until now, that is...

The above is dead on accurate. If you're playing after already showing an I.D. or a Players Card and they ask you for a DL.., Tell them you left it on your room or some other excuse. They usually have an excuse like your birthday is wrong or such... They are just confirming your identity before tagging you with the "notify security" note in the 'puter. At that point work towards coloring up. It won't be long before the PC strolls over and tells you how good a BJ player you are. ;-) If they don't back you off this time.. they will next time. (sometimes they will review the tapes before actually backing you off.. this takes time. That's why they might not do it right then.)

I always get checked at the door before I'm allowed to enter the casino the first time I got asked to show my id 4 times while just walking around in the casino but now at the door they stamp my hand and I haven't got asked since then.
