Small bet on small bets.

So my friend and I are going down to the Sands in AC the weekend of the 17-18th. $200 going to whomever comes out highest with a starting bankroll of $160. A number which doesnt favor my playstyle at all, typically I like to bring around 3,000 at a minimum but my friend doesn't have that kind of cash.

I think this is the first time I've ever gambled on gambling. Do I have a problem? hahaha

$160 will buy you ten hands of BJ,with $10 leftover for a double for less.
Is betting $200 on the results of ten hands a problem?
No,but I'd say its a pretty stupid bet.
I wouldn't take it.Nor would I sit down to play BJ with a BR that small.Even if you find a $10 table, which are pretty extinct on weekends in AC,you don't even have a 20 bet spread to work with.2 or 3 losing doubledowns will hopelessly cripple you.

Skill or Luck

I'm guessing from your post that the purpose of the bet is to determine who is the best player. With the limited bankroll, you both are taking , you will only be able to determine who has the most luck. I believe you need at least 30-40 times your minimum bet (to withstand a losing streak) if you want to see who is the best player.

I don't think Chasekwe intends to count cards with that bankroll or for it to be an accurate representation of his abilities relative to his friends. I think what Chasekwe was trying to say is him and his buddy are just trying to have fun playing blackjack and to make it more exciting they put a side bet on it ;)

Actually, it does sound like fun. As others have pointed out, the bet will be decided by luck rather than skill. But it should make for an entertaining trip to the casino.

It'll be even more fun if you sit at the same table and start thinking like it's a tournament.

I just don't think that a person that can't scrape up more than $160 for a weekend of BJ should be betting $200 on much of anything.
i wish i had thought of that quote
