As a dealer I definitely can confirm that 99% of dealers don't know what they're talking about when it comes to basic strategy. Of course they know not to hit a 15 vs a dealer 5 but for the close calls like when to split 9's or 4's or what to do with a soft 18 most don't know what the correct move is. I can give a perfect example. Often times when a player makes a 'silly' mistake and wants to hit a hand they shouldn't a lot of dealers will double check, not to mention the table will be butting their nose in. Well this same thing has happened to me on a number of occasions when I've tried to split 4s or hit a soft 18vs. a 10. Everyone else was trying to tell me I should double my 4s and stand on my soft 18. Oh well, unlike the owner of the casino, the dealers don't want the house to win, if you win you tip better!
