You should only have to present it when you first sit down. They will take it, write you down and bring it back to you in a bit.

You will typically have to give it at every table you sit down at, however.

The floor supe will probably make a notation when you leave to note when you stopped playing and try to gauge your win/loss, but the card isn't necessary.

There's probably plenty of other things you can embarass yourself with. Don't worry about it.

all the harrahs casinos i know of have eight deck shoes and some or most of them have gone to hit the soft 17(at least in ac)...... i would say forget the comps and find a better game(casino)........ but if you like it there its just when you sit down.... you get up just leave

Ok Thanks!!

I Have a couple more questions....I Know your points are based on Length of time at table, adverage bet..etc...question is how do they know all that, Do they watch the cameras and then find it out or they have someone watching you ..Just curious

Also I played last night for about 2 hours and made about 25 bucks...i checked my account online and have zero points..its the first time i used the card is that common?

Write back
Thanks!!!!

they calculate that everytime a pitboss walks by your table and marks some little notes on a card. it isn't precise, no one is watching you on camera working to give you comps.

at several casinos the points you see "online" are for slot play only, the BJ pit has a completely separate way of determining comps.

Sorry about digging up this older post, but I had a question. If the online points are only based on your slot play, is it still recorded on your card how long you were playing BJ? Does table play accrue on multiple visits, or is it pretty much just what you did at a particular sitting?

Some friends and I are planning a trip to Vegas this December (Excalibur rooms for only $41 a night with a promo code), and I was going to sign up for an MGM Mirage Player's Club card. This will be my first time with such a card (have only played in Vegas once before).

I only feel comfortable playing BJ (although I am learning craps). The only time I have played a slot machine, I played a dollar machine, and it just ate my $20 without a single win (screw that).

I would like to go to Vegas about 3 times per year, and I of course earning some comps is nice. However, as a red chip player who only plays blackjack, I would think it would take multiple sittings at the BJ table to earn anything (going back to my original question).

Thanks in advance for any info on comps,

Policy on soft comps depends a lot on the individual casino, but in general, they try to keep track of your total hours played, so lots of short sessions is theoretically equal to one long one.

Since table comps aren't usually tracked as points, the "expiration" policy can vary too, they might only be good for your current trip, or you might be able to "bank" them.

I believe the MGM properties look for at least a $25 bet before they even rate you. However you could apply some rudimentary comp hustling techniques (see Max Rubin's "Comp City" for details) and throw down a few larger bets when the pit critter is rating you, then drop down to the table mins when they're not looking.

Ouch... That's harsh. I am only planning on bringing $300 to gamble. Betting green chips could really cut my trip short. :(

Oh well. I'm not going to change my betting to get comps. I was hoping my red-chip play would eventually earn something over time (maybe not even this trip). I guess it (the card) isn't worth getting. I'll probably get one anyway, but there doesn't seem to be a point for someone like me.

I believe Excaliber will comp a buffet or two for $10 bettors, but thats about it. But it gets you into the system and you'll get a couple of free nites offered to you down the road. Not on your play, just for being in the system.
I still get an occasional postcard offering free rooms there and at Circus Circus, with zero play for at least five years.

You can earn comps much easier downtown. Join lasvegasadvisor.com and you'll get a bunch of 2-4-1 hotel rooms, matchplays and food coupons.

Thanks for the advice. Free room offers sure makes it easier to make the drive.

If I were going alone, I would probably go downtown, to state-line, or perhaps an Indian Casino here in CA. However, it is my friend's first time to Vegas, so a group of us decided to take him to the strip.

As I only bring what I am willing to lose, it seems smart to lower costs, so I can have more fun playing. I don't count, but BS should get me through the trip (I hope).

Stay at Hooters. The rates are not bad. The casino is small and the staff is very friendly. :gaga: There are low limit games as well. You are also in walking distance of everything (just about).

If you staying at a Harrah's Casino, Which is the Players Card i was asking about in the 1st Post (Ceasers, Bally's or Flamingo, or Paris) The Comps will get added to the players card balance. They only update it once a day so if you look at your account online, you wont see your new points until the next morning. I Have to say the comps great at Harrah's for table Games such as Blackjack and Craps. Good Luck!!!

So, for a red-chip Blackjack player, Harrah's is better for comps than MGM Mirage?

Also, how is Video Poker for comps? I recall reading that with VP, the house has only a small edge.

It All Depends on You, Personally I live in Chicago, I dont make it out to Vegas That Often, and THe Best Blackjack Games i Found here in Chicago are at Harrah's Casinos. I couldnt really comment on Video Poker, I dont play it, I Just play craps/Blackjack/Carbbiean Stud

Harrahs has the best comps IMHO

I was just once or twice a month player and logged on to Harrahs website and saw all the free rooms I had and have been to Vegas twice with anywhere from three to five free nights at Balleys and Rio. Harrahs also gives points for blackjack, not as many as for slot play, but they add up.

Harrahs gives free nights to all their properties. I have three free nights in Tunica and three free buffets and have only been there once.

I guess I will play at both MGM Mirage and Harrah's properties when I go. Joining both Player's Clubs can only lead to more offers mailed home for future visits.
