Switching Dealers

Well for one dealers get breaks every 40 minutes to an hour for 20 minutes. The reason why dealers get so many breaks is because research has shown that if they have to stay in for too long they end up making more mistakes and this cost the house money.

I have actually seen dealers getting changed out after a player wins big one shoe. If this same player, or the whole table for that matter, keeps winning, they change the dealers every 5-10 minutes. On the other hand, if the house was winning, these dealers would stay in for around an hour or so. Sometimes you can't do anything but laugh at the superstitions of others.

I don't think it's superstition, it's just being cautious. If you have a player, or players, who are winning lots of money it may be due to a dealer giving the player(s) an advantage -- flashing the hole card, giving great pen, things like that. It's better to send them on a break than to risk them causing the house to lose a lot of money.

Well ITYM casino's definatly do it to try a stop a player who is on a hot streak. You definatly know this when a dealer who has been dealing for 15 mins get replaced by a dealer who gives the same or even better pen.

table busters

You don't have to worry about the normal dealer breaks with the same relief dealer or dealers going from table to table. The dealer switches that should alert you is when they bring one that is really fast and is not the usual relief or stays longer than a normal break. The joints do this to try to see if your pattern of playing or betting changes. Do you quit talking and concentrate on the cards more than before or start flat betting like you lost the count. Just bear in mind and learn to observe the things that are going on around when you are playing. blackchipjim

most changes in 70 minutes!

my personal record is 5 dealer changes in 70 minutes. All of them were good looking females, dealt fast, chatted with me, and all of them gave me money. The floor manager was the only one not enjoying himself.

breaks depend casino to casino though, the place i worked they had a push rotation, you did 20 mins at each table and rotated around the pit so you might start dealing BJ then spanish 21, then pai gow, then to a spanish 21 table, get a break, then deal another 4-5 tables before a break

i had one night i dealt 8 hours straight without seeing the breakroom, break kept getting pushed 1 table past where i was at, i knwo some people got in trouble for that night. i think it changes casino to casino but the standard seems to be 20 off 40 on though outside of calif.

dealing is so math intensive though after 8 hours of dealing if i went and played i couldnt even hardly add my own hand totals some days.
