Sycuan ( San Diego ) and counters?

#1
I had been doing well at Viejas ( San Diego ) but have recently been attracting some heat. I usually count using basic +/- and only vary between 1 and 5 bets. I've been thinking about heading to Sycuan, another Indian Rez in San Diego. Anybody have any info on the Floor, structure, Surveillance, or anything of note I should be aware of. Thanks. New to the site, looks great. Later.

This really should be in a different thread, i think "Southern US" would be more appropriate.

Nevertheless myself and several others are familiar with SD casinos. personally, viejas and sycuan have the worst rules around. After scouting out casinos down here I stopped playing those two places alltogether. It doesn't mean they can't be beaten, they can. Spreading 1-5 on either of their games (i assume you are playing 6D and 8D) is a breakeven proposition at best. you'll need to up that spread to 1-8 and wong out of ALL neg counts. and if possible do a lot of wonging in. Viejas is pretty easy to backcount since it is so big, sycuan is a little harder though i know a few people who have had better luck with that place than me.

but like i said, there are better rules and pen nearby.....

Best thing to do is drive to sycuan and check it out yourself. i hear that they give pretty valuable coupons out regularly in the mail ($10 cash, etc). see if it fits how you play and your bankroll. (6D $10 min, 2D $25 min).

Yeah, these sorts of discussion are probably better for the Western US forum (it needs some love!)

I found Sycuan is layed out fairly well for wonging, simply because there's four seperate pit areas with blackjack. All the main floor tables are $10 or $15 minimum, 6D, H17, no surrender. Penetration seems to average fairly poor (1.5 decks or more cut off). But there's some variability. Most tables use ASMs, some have a hand shuffle. Some dealers have a tendency to cut off 2 decks or more if your bet increases near the end of the shoe.

The "high-roller" area has a few 2D games. Dealt out of a shoe, face down. They use a cut card, and penetration is pretty bad, often only barely higher than 50%. Still H17 and no surrender. Minimums are $25 and $50.

So, the games are fair to poor, but at least they're consistent. There's no 8D shoes, no CSMs, I don't think there's any 6:5 games.

One thing I'm trying to figure out at this joint is a little white button at many tables right next to the shoe button. I've seen the dealers click it, but not on every hand. It's either used to clock dealers' speed, or keep track of players for comp purposes, or (the most paranoid option) a silent "checks play" button that the dealer can press without actually calling out checks play.

I usually don't spend too much there, as the rules are painful with too much exposure, and I don't particularly like the buffet.

i couldn't figure out that button either, maybe for cash in?

wasn't worth the time trying to figure it out. i don't think it is for "checks play" i saw it being used in a heads up game where a friend was betting table min.

playing their $25 DD game flat betting!? now he's a gambler! NOT ME
