I actually enjoy seeing non-ap's get smashed.
I do too, but only when they're being dumb.

I was playing a decent red-chip table in AC, and about half an hour into my play I was up a ridiculously lucky number of units (something like 20-30). I had been wonging in place, and at this point I was dealt a blackjack with my max bet out. TC +7 or something nuts like that. The other players at the table won similar amounts (a couple DDs, another BJ I think).

The guy at the other end of the table goes "see? When you stay in, we win."

*facepalm* The irony. It kills me. It was all I could do to just shrug my shoulders and not intimate that, maybe, I had information he didn't have.

I ended up +54 units in like an hour. Felt good.

This is truly a fun read this thread!

These various whacky experiences at the tables... we have all had them. Player goes batsh*t f*cktard over you hitting your A-7 against the dealer 10, etc., etc... I LOVE it! Why is that? Because now you can have some REAL fun and amusement to take away from the boring tedious job of sitting there and plunking away.

I will only play with a table full of average joe regular players at low low stakes and the only reason I'm there is because nothing else too feasible (for the moment) is around to play, so it's not like I am sweating any outcome anyway. I rarely chit chat or socialize with other players... I am there to bang a buck and turn a profit, plain and simple. On the rare occasions that I have played at a low stakes table full of "ploppers" and one of them gets arrogant or stupid I GO OUT OF MY WAY to drive them totally over the edge in subtle ways, no need for insults or "Jerry Springer" style name calling... just subtle little commentary along the way with responses to their ridiculous assumptions and complaints.

I have also gone "one notch up" on this in the way of sarcasm and my sick and twisted sense of humor, such as (given a reasonable count) with tens in front of me and a dealer 6 announcing (in my best imitation of a LOUD eastern european sort of Polish, Romanian, Russian sounding accent in a booming voice saying, "YOU... MY FRIEND... I WISH TO HELP YOU... I WANT YOU WIN... IN MY COUNTRY WE ARE CRAZY AND ALWAYS SPLIT TENS FOR FRIEND." and then do it, not worrying if it wins or loses due to the low stakes and perhaps even HOPING this move blows away the mouthy person that has been berating the table. Dealer bangs a 21 on that hand I would say,"YOU KNOW...IT ALWAYS WORK SECOND TIME! NEXT TIME WHEN I DO IT YOU WIN COMRADE."

People will get mouthy about other peoples play, especially if they are losing. It is human nature to blame anyone but yourself. It was fun to read these stories in this thread and it makes for some reading on "the lighter humorous side" away from the typical mathematical drivel. There is little or nothing that anyone can say at the table that bothers me... I am pretty well numb to it all but I WILL have some fun at the expense of their sanity on occasion if I am in a mischievious mood.

Yup yup i love it, this guy kept on complaining about me taking cards etc etc the usual.

So, at this hand he had like £75 with 11 vs 9 and he doubles ahd got a 6 (making his hand 17)

And now am sitting there with 7 vs 9, and didn't take a card and dealer had 19 and he lost big time :p. Funny thing was that if i took the 10 dealer would of busted :D

He went ****ing ragin, funny as!!!

Yes, and beyond human nature, it is ADDICT nature to blame the addict's problem on others. Just like with an out-of-control alcoholic, everything is always somebody else's fault when you're dealing with a gambling addict.

It's difficult sometimes. An AP in the casino is in some ways like an angel. We have knowledge and powers the ordinary people don't. The addiction and pain of the gambling sin doesn't affect us; we fly high above it. And like an angel who sees a person on the path to destruction and can offer them a way out, we too could whisper to a ploppy our secret and there is a chance he might listen. But it's not our place to do that.

It's not actually like card counting is a secret.

You could offer to teach them how to play and make money for free and probably only 1/10 of people would take you up on it - and 1/10 of them would actually finish and go on to do what they were instructed in.

So why didn't you hit it? How much did you have on the line?

Thanks Tarzan

I usually play in places where switching tables is not really an option - so I have no choice but to put up with jerks.

I would have used this on the obese ploppy who kept screaming at me for making bad plays and helping the dealer (how could I not know you should never ever draw more than one card to a stiff). Ploppies may not be skilled at BS, but they sure are skilled at backtracking the cards all the way back to me on first base and figuring out how they would all have won had I stood on my soft 18 :)

Unfortunately this table had two ten-splitters already, which he did not seem to mind. So he would probably have believed me if I said I was doing it to help him. He got so pi@&#d off he began betting minimum and drew cards to bust on purpose (against upcards of 5 or 6) to "make me lose".

As for the previous comments getting the casino to step in - I am pretty sure who they will side with - Mr. "I deposit my paycheck here every week and play baseless strategy", or the new guy who is winning chips.

While splitting 10s is generally hated by the table I had one experience with it where I split 10s and luckily the dealer still busted. ( Doesn't surprise me since I am pretty sure there were only 10s left in the shoe). The next shoe two other players split 10s and one of the players split 10s to 4 hands! Needless to say I was pretty impressed with it. I like to encourage 10 splitting as much as possible so you don't look too out of place when you actually split 10s yourself.
