Using a room offer for shocking amounts of time

I just made Platinum at Harrahs and within the next month should easily hit Diamond.

Anyway now I check my room offers on-line and at the weaker LV properties like Imperial Palace or Harrahs I can literally book a comped room for a month straight with no breaks.

If I do it a month out I can get 2 weeks at a time at Planet Hollywood or Paris etc...

If I were to book a room for a month or so (I have lots to do in the LV, San Diego/L.A. area), but didn't play that much... is that going to seriously hurt my future comps?

I've been told that there is some arcane law in Vegas that limits hotel guests to 28 days or less. Something about them needing to be licensed as Boarding Houses if they allow guest to stay for a month at a time. One person told me this dates back to when Howard Hughes was staying at The flamingo and the mob bosses didn't want more of his kind moving in.

That wouldn't surprise me. In Michigan if you stay in a hotel longer than 30 days you are no longer considered a "guest", you are a "resident" and get back a lot of your room taxes.

Just because the offers show up in your online account, doesn't mean they are available if and when you try to book them. Same with getting a mailer - they tell you that you have 3 free nights, then you call, and it's not available.

You could book a Harrah's room for a week, an MGM room the following week, a downtown room the 3rd week, etc

Just don't play where you stay, but play at your comped locations when you're staying somewhere else so the comps keep coming, but you won't have the worry of being kicked out of your hotel.

You are Platinum. That you means you have at least 4000 points. It takes a total of 11,000 points to make Diamond.

You only have 2 more months to get 7000 points.

How do you plan on making 7000 points before the end of the year?

I earned 20K tier points in a week and a half, then got my comps revoked (the casino got tired of me treating them like my own personal savings account).

To the OP: do not worry about future comps.

Use whatever comps you have for whatever you need, you'll probably earn comps at the other places you play at. And either way, you're probably going to be barred and have your comps revoked at some point down the line, so there's no point saving them.

If you're an AP, use the comps for what you need NOW, worry about earning future comps later. There's far too much uncertainty as to whether they'll even be offering you anything down the line, since all it takes is getting caught once and they might revoke everything.

I believe that is the way it is in Vegas as well. I have an aquaintance who thinks he is a professional poker player, who lives in one of those hotels out on paradise road near hard rock. If he pays for his room by the month, he pays no taxes. If he pays a week or two, he must pay sales and room tax. His problem is that sometimes his poker career isn't going so well and he doesn't make enough to pay for a month at a time.

Not that difficult, depending upon your betting level. I've had several BP's that went from Gold to Diamond in one day.

You mean if you're comped at XXCaezzarXX's, you can play your heart out at XXXBa!llyXXX's, get backed off, banned, trespassed, and still not worry that you won't be thrown out of your room at XXCaeszzarXX's?

Honestly I will probably get to Diamond before the end of November. I played in AC for about 5 days and went from 1500 to 4200. A month later I'm at around 7600.

You have to convince the people rating you to think you are a degenerate gambler.

No, I mean if you're comped at Caesars, you can get trespassed at MGM and not get kicked out of your room. I should also amend it to don't play where you stay and don't play where you will stay, and play where you stayed.

No you can't. You'll get 3 nights at a time in their system, even at Diamond.

AM - Here's an odd situation...was booking online at Harrah's site for comped rooms in Vegas next January. A couple days back, I booked a free Saturday night at Rio and was going to grab the next couple nights at Caez. or P-Ho. Once I made the initial booking for Rio on Saturday, comps were no longer listed for the other nights, just reduced rates.

I log back in a couple days later and all the weekday rooms are now listed as comped again. But it wouldn't let me make a separate booking next to that Saturday night res. So I've modified my reservation to include 4 free consecutive nights (Sat - Wed) at Rio.

If I want to break that reservation up into multiple locations (i.e. Rio for Sat/Sun, and Caez. for Mon/Tues), would you recommend calling their reservation number to modify?

I had that happen, too. If you call HET reservations, they can do the booking for a second reservation where you can't do it online yourself.

Thanks 21...it just seemed a bit funny the way things changed from day to day after the first night's booking, so I jumped on locking down 4 nights comped. I'll call HET this week to see about splitting the trip up into a couple hotels.

good luck :joker:

My friend and I were just in Vegas and stayed at the Imperial Palace and stayed 5 nights in a row, comped from on-line booking.
