Last time I was there, you could find S17 blackjack in "Pit 17" which is located outside the Tabu nightclub.
I was at MGM a few days ago and counted 13 S17 tables spread over two pits. Many of these had $10 minimums. They weren't all open at once, but there was no trouble finding a seat and heads up play was possible at times.

That is absolutely fantastic news. Kudos to the MGM Grand for having S17 tables on the main floor at red chip level!

I hope everyone frustrated with Mandalay Bay's antics goes to the MGM Grand and spends time at the S17 tables.

I'm not selfish and don't mind sharing with others. I promise you won't be denied a seat because of my post on Blackjack Info so quit your whining and relax. It's common knowledge.

If it's common knowledge, it does not bear repeating. I think you mean it is easily obtainable information.

What you said was not damning, but it easily slides into much too much detail about specific opportunities. S17 and red chip tables are not exactly a counter's paradise, so I don't fault you for mentioning it. Now if you tell us that surveillance is poor, pen is 98%, dealers are weak, and spreads of 100 to 1 are tolerated, I will ask Ken to bar you from the Forum. (after you PM me the location)

I've been chastised for posting info about certain games as well.

We should all think twice before posting specifics, common knowledge or not.

In the past few days, i have been backcounting and playing double decks and some good shoe games on the strip. About the the shoe table game spread outside the tabu nightclub (most of them 10$ table) they are all H17 and not S17 as mentionned by another forum member. I personnaly highly doubt that is possible to backcount shoe after shoe. I would say its possible back count once in a while but yo do it continuously seems too out of normal and suspicious. Now, I would like to know about the degree of danger when backcounting DD game. Are they games really so well protected? Will a very short session like a shoe or two on dd without beeing rated be OK ? Wouldnt it be more suspicious when backcounting or spreading on a 10$ minimum shoe game when every body is playing 25 or 50 max and you have two hands of 200 when the count is sky high. I did got some heat backcounting DD game once. I entered a game when TC raised to 3 on hilo count, then parlaying up only when i win while the count is still rising. played till the end of the shoe and made 800$, played a total of 5 or 6 rounds before the end. I saw the PB taking the phone, i decided to color up and left.

I hope you enjoyed your first trip to Las Vegas. Two friends and I checked MGM for the S17 tables on July 3 and my information was accurate at that time. Either you missed them or they were changed after that, but I'm pretty sure a phone call to MGM Table Games will verify that they are still there.

I'm not one who back counts a lot, but I have talked with people here who do. They move around from casino to casino. You cannot deny the greater advantage of back counting. And you never have to raise your bet spread or play at a disadvantage. But it's a hit and run operation, and if you're not up to making a lot of tracks, you will not be happy back counting. Still, I can't think of a better way to maximize profits and lower variance than always playing at an advantage, can you?

My trip finally came to an end, back at home and writing this post before going for a good sleep. Conclusion, i am up by 3300$ after ~30h of playing Spread was 50-400. I didn't really get the chance to play a lot. Condition in Vegas was not as good as I expected to be. Pen out of 6D are an average of 4.5/6. Some 5/6 may be found but rare is the case. I have been back counting DD mostly, only played a couple of shoe games. Back counting was not a very good option either, during off peek hours, not many people were standing near tables and glancing (like those people that are looking and waiting for a hot dealer), this makes me more suspicious and unnatural when i try to stand near tables and back count. PLUS, i have a very young look, and every time I get near a table, every dealer or pit boss is already watching me wondering if i am over 21. Worst then that, some dealer and even security were asking my ID when i am not even sat down and only standing near the playing area. It's almost impossible for me to pass unnoticed before I play, making it much harder for putting actions. Maybe its only I think too much and maybe I'm too paranoid. BUT, i got BACK OFF from one of the casino. The manager came to me and ask me to grab my chips and have a little talk. He tells me that I can't play BJ no more in this casino. I made a face like if I didn't understand why. But i did not argue or ask any explanation after he finished his word and i went to cash out and leave, i haven't went back since then. In conclusion, I found it pretty hard to CC in Vegas. Better opportunity can be found when i back count in other casinos in the east coast, if i have to use the play all approach. I will probably make a better score and win rate back counting in my local casino. Will probably not return to LV in a long while. Now if there is anything that seemed wrong from my playing during this 10 days or if there is anything i could have done instead, please let me know as it will improve my game for my future visit. I will be very thankful for your reply, any advice from you will be a plus for my experience and better doing. Thank you again in advance.
