Vegas trip

I just got back yesterday from Sin City and had a great time. My wife and myself rented a car as usual and did a partial circuit of casinos playing low limit games. I was surprised to see the amount of off strip and some on that had low limt games. The Downtown time was great and was able to play a few joints before moving on. The overall trip makes me think that I'm going to stop wasting my time around the east coast joints that I frequent and just make three or four trips to Vegas a year.

What do you not like about the east coast? I have not been out there yet.
Did you play Fitzgeralds?

No the I didn't get to the fitz because time ran out and we had other plans. I was watching the double deck games at different places but didn't think they were worthwhile at least the ones I saw. I did get to play a few 6deck games with great pen in the morning and made some nice cash quick with heads up play. The lower table limits allowed me the comfort zone I need for my game. I was little disappointed that most of the games were hit on soft17 but the pen and surrender made up for it.

Are east coast games mostly 8 deck?

Atlantic City is nearly all 8-deck. Borgata has 6-deck. There are a few others (-deck) I can't remember offhand. There is also single deck 6/5. And lately, a double deck game at the Hilton.

yes, pen cures all!!!

i had this dealer on a DD game that, no joke, had to shuffle at least 10 times DURING A HAND in the 2+ hrs i was there

she would say "man, how did i do that again?" too funny!!! she also said "they are gonna get mad at me upstairs"..my reply, ah, don't worry...you have to shuffle anyways.

it was so comical...i counted 8 cards after the cut card came out one hand...~85% YIKES@#$!

well, here's the real kicker, it had good rules, but a low table limit. so i buy in for $500, lose, $500, lose, $500 lose, $500 and lost about half of that before justice was served.

i would hit BJ w/ the table max and she'd say "good for you, you know just when to increase your bet"

left up $150 after her shift was over, but it felt like i won a dime.

Doesn't that give you a queasy feeling when they say you know just when to increase your bet? I've had another player keep saying that, and I was wishing she would just shut up before people would take notice. I've even had someone say you must be counting because you know just when to increase your bet. All I can say to them is, "How anybody can remember a hundred cards I'll never know. I'd have trouble remembering five or six."

I'm always quick to point out my BJs at table minimum, especially after cutting my bet. Seems to happen all too often!

east coast games

I can't really speak for the whole coast because I limit myself to just a few joints within a couple hundred miles of home. The Indian casinos have 8decks for the lower limit games and some of the WV casinos as well. The 6deckers are 25min or 15min which one is too high and the other is strectching my br to play. I don't go detroit or into Canada anymore because the games are not worth it for the distance traveled. I have played the 6deck 15 min table with good results but it gets a little warm when I start spreading bets.

I, too, just got back from the city that never sleeps and had a blast. Everything from the flight from North Carolina to Southern California, my wife and I were the last to board and the flight was empty, so I asked if active duty military could get first class if it was empty and the flight attendant let us.

We went to stay at a regular "Hollywood Hip" room and I made a comment about military rates and was told I should have booked over the phone for them. Then I was notified that no more rooms were available and we got a room upgrade. Come to find out we're on the 38th floor and we reach our door which is a pair of black double doors. Turns out we got the "Panaramic Two Bedroom Suite" for the night. The room had a Bruce Willis theme and it had some memorabilia from his movies. My buddy and I were a little unprepared for the upgrade, so we didn't throw a huge bash or anything. Still, not bad for $144.

Anyways, played a bit of blackjack and doubled my money (Not saying much, only started with $70). Got lucky at my first time playing craps and won about $200 mostly playing the field.

All in all, had a great time and have a video of the room, but I don't know if I can upload that.

Sounds like you were either at Planet Hollywood or City Center. Glad you won. Where were you flying from, Fort Bragg? Anyway, I salute you for your service.

I completely forgot to mention that we were at Planet Hollywood. It was my first time staying there, I normally stay at the Luxor or Mandalay Bay. However, we found Planet Hollywood to be very nice (Probably because the upgrade). I wasn't expecting much for the BJ rules in the pleasure pit, so I can't say that I was disapointed. I knew what it was going to be. And I was flying from Jacksonville, North Carolina I'm stationed over in Camp Lejeune. Once again I appreciate the support :) thank you.

I have spent many a time at PH, and I have to say it has generally been a real pleasure. The rooms I believe were a bit nicer under the Aladdin ownership, but I'm sure that's a matter of taste. The suites are exceptionally nice. Did you have a view of the Bellagio fountain display? The buffet especially breakfast is awesome. And the 6 deck games were pretty good when I visited there in March, although I had words with the house over the pen in the double deck games. Again, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and once again, we should thank our vets each and every day for laying their lives on the line for us.

Yeah, we had a view of the Bellagio fountain. We were in the North Elevators, so we could see the Bellagio fountain, Paris, Ceaser's Palace and a decent amount of the city off the strip. The fountain looked amazing at night, really beautiful. Of all the times I have watched it, it was like seeing it for the first time from the suite.

You're right about the pen in the DD games. It was pretty terrible, but I knew I was only going to play a few rounds with my friend and then move on. So I suffered through.

We also ate at the Spice Market buffet. We got to it just before the line got ridiculous. Fast recap, waitress was terrible, food was amazing, disappointed in the seafood line though, price was $120 for four people (a little expensive for my taste), we used $5 off each person though, so it eased the pocket burden to $100. All in all I'd probably do it again.

Our Panorama Two Bedroom Suite at Planet Hollywood

I cut out the very end where it shows my father joking around with the Bruce Willis display and where I say my name (for obvious reasons). And before I get some "What an idiot" thoughts, I know I called the beday a urinal, it was a joke between my wife and I. Also, I cut out the third bathroom. I wasn't too thrilled that my wife was making me take a video against my will.

Hope you enjoy the video!

Very cool. Nice and comfortable, and plenty of amenities--actually better than home. Too bad in Vegas no one stays in their room much! lol
