What a nightmare!

At the Casino last night....

On a 'good run'....

Me stakes £120 on one hand....

I get two aces!!!............

BUT....

The dealer also gets an ace.

Decisions decisions.....

I split the aces.......

So I now have £240 on the table ......

I get a face card on one, making 21, and a 9 on the other, making 20.....

I was still thinking about how my new stack of chips was going to look infront of me, when I heard the mortal words 'Black Jack!'

Yep, the dealer had Blackjack, and I was left £240 shorter off one hand!

Luckilly, and only luckilly, as I do not yet count the cards, I recovered the losses, but left the Casino only £30 in the green.

But it's better than red!

Ouch. Too bad it wasn't more Americanish rules, where at least the dealer would mostly offer insurance and peek for blackjack before you split your bet.

Do you know basic strategy yet? zg
It was INCORRECT to split tha Aces against Ace in ENHC type rules.

Ms Sparx, learn correct BS otherwise you are just a hopless punter and we have little tolerance for ignorance around here. Cap'ce? zg

The use of the term punter is a dead giveaway.

It looks like she wants to be known as a she. It's just a lot easier to go along with it. Besides, there's only one occasion where it makes any difference, and it has nothing to do with blackjack.

I'm going to refer to he/she as It. It needs to learn basic strategy, It needs to learn to count cards, It puts the lotion on the skin! :whip:

Thanks Zen,
It is SHE actually!

I HAVE been learning BS found at
http://www.blackjackforumonline.com/content/BasicChap.htm

Correct me if I am wrong, but this calls fr Aces to be split no matter what card the dealer has?
1. If you have a Y-chromosome, you are a he.

2. If the dealer doesn't check for BJ before you play out your hand and he keeps all money you have bet (be it from a split or double down) in the case he has a BJ, Basic Strategy is very different. This rule is very common in the UK and very rare in the US so most American players never bother learning the Basic Strategy for it. But it is imperative that you do.

I am trying!
You have made a horrendous mistake. You are playing European BJ not the American BJ. Since almost all books and website including this website is US based you are playing the wrong game.

ENCH games are different

I've never played European No Hole Card games. If you post over at BJ21.com on the free board, you will probably get someone to tell you the differences. While that play didn't turn out the way you wanted it to, it is not going to make a big difference in your EV over the long haul. Mistakes will happen when learning at the live tables. I suggest getting CVBJ to practice you game and do some reading. Buy a couple of books and read all the articles over at blakcjackforumonline.com. If you are serious, get a greenchip membership at BJ21.com, too. You can't beat CSMs (Continuous Shuffle Machines) unless you have a weak dealer who is making mistakes and such. You need to catch all the mistakes against you and promote those for you. Good luck and don't let the social neophytes here discourage you. Maybe they have some latent issues they can't deal with.
