a ploppy is that stupid gambler that plops his/her a** down at your table when the count is high and starts eating up your good cards. They are strong worshipers of "the sacred flow of the cards" and like to chew out those you attempt to disrupt this magical flow. Theres much more to these ploppies and im sure some of us could go on forever about them but thats what i think of when i think of a ploppy.

It takes a little extra to be a ploppy

Trying to be nice, most people are horrible players and the general definition of ploppy would include them. Considering the term to be extremely negative, I often will not consider that horrible player a ploppy till that player has declared himself God's prophet of blackjack chosen to spread the word to the rest of us.
He is that guy who knows nothing about playing blackjack but will let you and anyone else know it when you do not play his way. He is the guy who loses almost every trip to the casino but it is never because he plays so badly, it is because of you, me or someone else who disrupted the Mystical Magical Sacred Flow of the All Knowing Cards.

mjbballar23 - Definition of Poppy

This is part of his opinion. "...poppy is that stupid gambler that plops his/her a** down at your table when the count is high and starts eating up your good cards..." I always called people taking a seat during a high count AP's.

Sometimes it's a thin line between a ploppy and an AP. An AP will make moves that are positively ploppylike when the count is right. Many indice moves are plays a ploppy will usually make.

if someone jumps into your table at a high count its usually not very difficult to determine whether they are an AP or stupid ploppy. Thats just my experience.

I guess what i was more trying to get at is a ploppy always seems to show up when you are half way through a shoe that you had been playing heads up and ends of eating your cards when the count gets good at the end of the shoe.

"Hello, my name is...and I'm a Ploppy" or "12 Steps of TheAPprentice"

This thread seems an apporpriate venue for my confession that I am a Ploppy who will never Plop again.
I just had my first big GAMBLING casino visit since beginning on the CC/AP knowledge gathering path, and I've vowed to never again participate willingly in the casino's pillaging.
This is an important moment of epiphany for me, as I'd been content to put out a few bucks during the learning curve as a way of on the job training with entertainment mixed in.
Reality has given me a slap in the face, though, and I've awoken to the sound of my own pockets emptying, and been quite displeased with this revelation.
I will not play BJ again until I feel that I've mastered every technique I feel I'll need in my arsenal to be an APprentice no more, but simply an AP.
When do I get my keychain?

Thanks to the ploppies, novices and civilians

Call the poor blackjack players but whatever name you pick but do not forget to thank them for whatever playable blackjack is still out there.
Without these people losing their money at rates of about 5% or perhaps higher in some cases, do any of us think playable blackjack games would be offered?

Thank you ploppies of the world.

I must agree 100%
Still some of these people are dangerous, in one of my local casinos there is one who screams everytime he sees a player doubling in a soft hand and draws attention.
he gives so many bad advices but everyone there seems to think he is a blackjack messiah. he usually says when a dealer is going to bust and if it happens he will say i told you so, if not someone else in the hand played badly. He preaches to everyone that CSM are better for players because you can play more hands and win more(he doesn't even know BS and uses some strange strategy!), there a lines of people waiting in these awful machines(they literally line up for the slaughter down there) and the shoegames are empty.:flame:
I cannot begin To tell you the horror of the situation, they(these ploppies and their messiah) even protest to casino personal to please put more CSM in the other games. I fear for myself as they even destroyed(the casino) one of my games, they put a CSM in one of my 4deck games(the best one! 83% normal penetration but sometimes going to 93% and rookie dealers).:flame::celebrate
I couldn't bear the situation so i had to leave this casino to another one(only playing there the good poker cashgames that they have).
i'm scouting but for me that game is a great loss(im still pissed).:flame:

I don't know what to do, but seems pointless. Ploppies are everywhere. A true basic strategy player is a rarity(an animal in extinction), i have to say in my 3 months playing i have never seen one here. A counter needless to say is a myth.
