What is this count known as?

This count was 'reccomended' by a friend. It's adjusted by a half deck true count and the values are as follows:

2 0
3 1
4 1
5 1
6 1
7 0
8 0
9 0
10 -1
A 0

He doesn't recall the name anymore. I think its known as Hi-Lo lite but I'm having trouble finding information about this becuase I don't really know what to search for. If you do, is there a play variation matrix anywhere online?

Thanks in advice for any advice.

Its called Hi-Opt-1 and its obsolete, due to the neutrality of the Ace which requires a seperate side-count.

The two counts for you to consider are:

(tags 2-A)

HiLo: 11111000-1-1
KO: 11111100-1-1

We have the matrix, but you should indulge in at least 1-2 books, at our recommendation. It all starts with CORRECT BASIC STRATEGY.

A starting point could be found here, then scroll down to GameMaster Lesons 1-19. zg

Wow, thank you for such a prompt response.

Interesting. I'm not sure whether or not he's maintaining a side count of aces. He learned to count in the mid 90's - how interesting that counting systems have changed so quickly.

I've unfortunatly invested in a number of books which I feel have been marginally helpful - not as helpful as the internet. They are: Million dollar blackjack and The Theory of blackjack (WAAAAY over my head).

I have been studying and playing basic strategy (according to http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php?numdecks=6+decks&soft17=h17&dbl=all&das=yes&surr=ns&peek=yes ) about 1-2 hours a day at home, and for a total of 58.6 hours in a casino and believe I can play sufficiently well that its time to start maintaining a running count.

I had read and worked through the lessons that you linked above before - the problem is those are for 6 deck shoe and I intend to play 2 deck. Is there some equivalant for the 2 deck variations?

In Million$BJ the Uston Adv Plus/Minus (UAPM) count (3-7=+1 v. 10-A=-1) is quite acceptable/equivalent to the HiLo and KO.

Whatever matrix#s that Uston published for UAPM are fine for any #decks (now a days we no longer concern ourselves with different indices for different #decks). However, it is recommended that you recreate the matrix#s by first multiplying them x2, then round them (see my interview page 4-5), then use a 1D TC adjustment rather than the 1/2D TC adjustment that Uston advises in the book. zg

Use a 1/4 deck adjustment. Dont listen to ZG. It is easier than you think. If you want a good 2 deck game. Go to the Orleans, sit at the bar. You will be able to back count there and walk right up to the tables. 70% pen on the 2 deck game. This was 30 minutes ago...Although dealer hits soft 17. But , you can tear it up. Simple.

Yes that joint has gotten better. But don't get over-confident in a Coast casino - they are strong counter catchers.

The problem with 1/2D and 1/4D TC is that the betting accuracy suffers due to reduced count 'granulation'.
1D TC is the way to go.

If you all are playing at a 10 dollar table and betting with 2 reds, you are not going to get any heat. If your playing a 1 to 300 dollar unit, then you should look for heat. You can spread a 10 dollar table to about 2k and not really worry about anything in vegas. At the same time however, I have played Indian casinos and have been barred after a 20k win. Vegas welcomes you and will at least give you a dinner comp. Demand a room!!
