I enjoyed his book,The Blackjack Zone, and found it helpful. Yet I keep seeing him getting trashed on a regular basis. Did he go over to the dark side or does he simply not hang out with the right people?

He didn't hang out with the right people, and he was always a mathematician first. To my knowledge he has never betrayed an AP.

I would say he never has and never will.

When he was trashed last year by "you-know-who" (WBPITTW) for starting a consulting company that would do some consulting for casinos, mostly new game creation analysis for developers, the news was already a year old - Eliot had announced to CC.com that this was happening in '05. zg

I agree. I think Eliot is an honest, trustworthy person who has always advocated for player’s rights. His intelligence and integrity are why there are so many great posts from great minds in the CardCounter.com archive on this website. He has been very generous with his knowledge even after his website closed down. Although his new job may bring him into contact with members of the “dark side” I can’t imagine that he would ever do anything to hurt APs.

Eliot Jacobson

Mr Jacobson lives in my area but we do not know each other.
I often have either given his book or recommended his book "Blackjack Zone" to someone who seems sincere in wanting to learn how to play blackjack. The book, in my opinion, does not teach you how to play but helps clear your mind of the many myths of blackjack and prepares one to move to the next step.
Mr Jacobson appeared to be very innocent, let us say extremely naive, when it came to his local casino, Chumash casino. The story is that early on he went to management there and explained to them that their shuffle was easily trackable and told them how they should shuffle. The result was they barred him from their property and bought ASM's to solve the problem. Thank you Mr Jacobson and get your ass off of tribal land!

His posting of his photo on cardcounter.com goes along with his innocence. I think there is always the thought in his mind that the advantage player and the casino can work together instead of being adversaries. Failure in this, probably quickened his move to the other side, in consulting. I have though never heard of him selling out an AP in his new line of work.

And don't forget his performance in "Breaking Vegas" on the Discovery Channel.

who was he in that show? That's what first got me started counting, I downloaded that series off of youtube and burned it to a DVD, lol.
Oops, my bad. I just looked it up and he was in "Beating Vegas" for National Geographic. He played the "crazy professor" Mr. M.
