My vote for ploppy of the year.

Sits down at a $5-200 table and buys in for 100. Bets 55 on the first hand and gets a pair of 8's. Buys in for another 10 and splits the 8's getting an 18 and a 19 vs a face. Wins them both. Next hand bets 100 gets a BJ. Now he has 370 setting in front of him. So far so good, just lucky.

Now the fun begins: Bets 150 gets a pair of face cards vs a face. Splits them, gets an ace and another 10. Wins them both

Now betting table max, gets a 14 vs a 6, doubles and gets a 2, dealer busts.

Table max gets a 20 vs an ace. Stays on that one and wins.

Table max again, gets a 12 vs a face, doubles and pulls a 9. Dealer has 20.

Table max again, splits 6's vs a 4. Gets a 8 on the first one, doubles it and gets a 3. Gets a 7 on the other, doubles it and pulls a five. Dealer busts.

Has over 2500 in black sitting in front of him for 7 hands in a neg count. And then piss*s it all away. That was the end of the good hands and fantastic doubles. Splits face cards one more time and busts them out. Doubles a hard 12 and hard 13 and busts them out.

Winds up with 100 left at the end of the shoe. Loses it on the first hand of the next shoe. Buys in for another 400 and loses it all too.
OMG!

Over betting 101!

Pigs get fed, Hogs get slaughtered!

That shows that even if someone's playing with a ~10% house edge, variance can get him way ahead. Just like we can lose max bet after max bet with a 5% player edge.

I saw a fine young ploppy was on his way out the casino drop in on a six decker I was playing the other night. There is a side bet for the dealer busting which he played for five bucks. Dealer is showing a six and when it comes to him he is showing a 6 and a 4, and waves it off as a stay.... The dealer has the same reaction as everyone else and asks the kid three times "you have ten sir... Are you sure?" he replies "I don't want to take the dealers bust card...". Dealer yells out to the pit "staying on hard ten!" and the pit lady comes over looking amused... Just in time to witness .. You guessed it ... The dealer busting...

Clap...clap..clap... Well played Sir... Thank you for "saving the table" lol

There are so many books on Blackjack out there. Why hasn't someone written one about this magical, mysterious Dealer Bust Card...? :joker:

In six-deck, at HiLo RC +79 with 75% pen, and one card remaining before the cut card, it is always best to double down on your hard ten, even with a "dealer bust" side bet.

No mystery. Anyone who hits a breakable hand when the dealer has an upcard which along with a ten constitutes a breakable hand, is guilty of taking the dealer's bust card if the card turns out to be one that would have busted the dealer if he had a breakable hand; however, if the dealer does not have a breakable hand, the player who takes the card is considered lucky, and the play is still considered a serious mistake.

Now if the player gets a card that would not bust the dealer if he had a breakable hand, the player will be considered a lucky, but still poor player.

Lastly, if the card the player takes would have helped the dealer, and the dealer now busts, or does not make a hand that beats the other players, the player is considered to have saved the table, and no one is allowed to mention the fact that he made a bad play, unless they wish to attribute it to some form of precognition, strong hunch, or other perhaps unexplainable phenomenon.

Some players consider it allowable for a player to hit a hard 12 against a dealer upcard of 2, but this is an exception to the rule, and should be practiced sparingly. One should always ask the table's permission before making such dangerous plays. If the other players moan and groan, generally feeling that a bust card is imminent, it would be contrary to the principles of positive flow and feng shui to obstinately persist in such a direction.

You know, maybe I will write a book about the dealer's bust card. That alone should give players the edge they need to consistently beat the house. That and always taking even money. Oh, and never taking insurance, except when you have a hand worth protecting. This may be an quantum leap in professional blackjack play. Thanks for the idea!

Yea that was the old clap pause clap pause clap.... lol

Aslan... LoL....

It's like if I knew that the rest of the cards in the deck were tens and I had 64 showing and the dealer had a 6 showing I could make myself look like a hero by staying! How awesome would that be????

"Listen everybody! I am going to sacrifice my piddly $300 bet to save you all! I am staying on 10!..... SEE I TOLD YOU!"

Back to the worst play topic, I thought I had pretty much seen most all of them until last week in Louisiana- the player doubled hard 16 against the dealer's ten. Drew a 10. He left shortly thereafter. Also, and I betcha most of you have seen this one: the player stays on soft 16, even after the dealer asks are you sure, it's only 6. The player says but it's also 16 and I don't wanna bust so I'm staying.

Sometimes, the player means he doesn't want to draw another card which gives him a stiff and which in turn he busts on. When I hit A/7 against a dealer 9, 10, or ace, and then catch, say, a six, the other players tell me, "See, I told you; you needlessly ruined a perfectly good hand."

I recently saw a player who always doubled when he had a total of 7. That's right, 7. Didn't matter what the dealer upcard was. Didn't double 8 or 9 (or 6 or 5 for that matter), but he always doubled on 7.

I've seen two separate players recently stand on small soft hands to a low dealer card (A3 to a 5, A4 to a 6) saying they didn't want to take a dealer bust card. (One dealer did bust, one made a hand to beat the table.)

Staying on A6 isn't entirely uncommon among bad players, but A3 or A4?!? These people shouldn't be allowed to vote or drive a car.

And of those who actually voted, no doubt 100% of them voted for Obama. A vast majority of them couldn't figure out how to work the ballot thingy though! ;)

Hey,

I was backcounting and couldn´t hit the table, cause it was full of ploppies. . They all sucked, but one guy...unbelievable.
11 vs 4.......stand! WTF?!?!? The dealer: "Sir, you have 11" Guy: "Yes, stand!"
Hole table: "You have 11!!!!" Guy: "Yes, I know. Stand!"
Dealer hits and surprise, he loses with his 11 vs 17!

Dealer explains to him. "Sir, you always hit with 11, you can´t bust, just can get better" Guy: "Yes, I know"

well....he "knew"
