I am currently in the Heartland of the country. Saw a low limit BJ game that pays even money on BJ if the bet is $5 or less, and pays 6:5 above $5. Needless to say, the table was full. And, of course, it was H17.

There are suckers everywhere and the casino is just cashing in by pushing the envelope to utterly stupid people.

This is what capitalism is all about....right?

Based on this logic, all the people who go to casinos and play the slots, roulette and the carnival card games are UTTERLY STUPID. It must be nice to be among the few intellectually elite.

That is a correct statement Fred. Unless you know you can beat the game or you are playing a game with a no more than half percent house edge for pure entertainment, you are utterly stupid.

What I see when I see people sitting at a h-17, 6.5 "BJ" game are fat, sloppy, ignorant, undisciplined, morons who think they know the game, but do not even recognize reality. They should not be allowed to reproduce so their defectives genes are not passed on... but end with their not too soon demise.:vomit:

I like to play craps or dollar roulette once in a while in short sessions for entertainment.

I guess I am a moron and should get a vasectomy to spare the world of the proliferation of my genes.

Are a lot of gamblers stupid? Sure. But a lot of them are not.

A lot of very intelligent people have had their lives ruined by gambling addiction. You cannot judge someone's intellect just because they like to throw some money away in a slot machine.

If you have a rich guy, say, a doctor, with more than enough money for everything he truly needs and most of what he wants, is he really stupid because he enjoys throwing money away at casino games that aren't quite as good as S17 DD?

This is what we Aussies have in Australia - very bad BJ games considering that we only have 13 legal casinos throughout the whole country and the distance between each casino is about on average 350 km apart. Yes I see loads of people playing 6-5 BJ with H 17 especially if 3-2 BJ with H 17 is a high stake game. People play 6-5 BJ H 17 because it's a low stake game and they wont lose a lot of money and they also considering venturing into the casino a form of entertainment in the short-term.

I'm certainly not gonna defend people playing 6:5. If you're gonna gamble and give the house an edge, don't give it a an uneccesarily large edge. Go play the line in craps or baccarat.

Poor BJ games are a sore spot for Mr. Panther, and rightly so. If people are playing these games knowing full well what they are up against, then that's their business. If they are playing these games without the knowledge of their chances of losing or winning, then I would say there is a fair amount of stupidity there, but mostly it's just ignorance.

I would love it if we could bring back the games of the 80's, but we'll have to settle for one of the catch phrases: Just Say No! :whip:

So what? If this is the best BJ game available, how much would a $3 a hand flat bet cost the average player over the course of a couple of hours? Would it be cheaper to go to a concert? A movie? A wrestling show? Stay home and rent a video? Are the players getting free drinks in this csino.
The vast majority of gamblers are people out for an occasional night of entertainment. That doesn't make them stupid.

blackjackstudent,

I have P.M'd you.

There are two messages as it seriously overshot the 5,000 character rule.

Understand that in Australia the game of choice is Pontoon, not BJ.

There are yet a few casinos dealing excellent Pontoon games without resorting to C.S.M.'s

Read what I wrote. Half a percent.

Craps can get you to the .25 HA, easily, so was I talking about you......

VP can easily be found with less than the .50 HA.

If these fools that play the abomination that I cited would all stop,,, these more than trash games would disappear. I desire that they disappear,,, and the way for that to happen is to stop playing them.

Besides you have access to great games, why would you of all people settle for the junk????

As to the rich guys who play trash games, get addicted, etc. ,, *damn right*, they are more than stupid and they have no excuse. They may be intelligent at work but are idiots in the casino, go figure.:laugh::laugh:

I don't play trash, I was just being hypothetical.

Many people enjoy gambling, that doesn't necessarily mean they are stupid. That is all I am trying to say. If they go into a casino for entertainment and drinks resigned to lose the $100 they bring, in the end it doesn't really matter which game they play.

If that be the case I hope they play slots or roulette or craps and not Junk BJ games.

Exactly Shadroch.

In fairness to 21forme, I'm not sure he's the one who drew the conclusion playing such a bad game with such bad rules actually made someone stupid by definition.

Nor did he mention, as you imply, what the min $unit actually is. What if one could bet 10 cents?

It may be a game completely worthless to a counter but a very valuable game to a flat-betting BS player with access to free drinks. Or a FB BS player confronted with the choice of either taking taking wife to a movie with a large popcorn, large pepsi and a box of chocalate raisinettes.

In this case, it's about -$EV/hr not how high the HA is as a percent.

I never really cared what an atrocious game Lasseter's used to offer on the Internet when I was allowed to bet a min of 1 cent. In Australian dollars.

May not have been quite as atrocious as this game sounds from a HA% point of view but I doubt the min bet in this game is one cent either lol.

I was a few tables away at a $15 min table, 6D, DAS, NS, H17 with 1/2 deck cut off.

So for the cost of two bets at your table, someone can play the othe table at much smaller stakes and enjoy themselves. What a crime. If someone has,say,$50 budgeted for a night of entertainment, then obviously they shouldn't be playing at a $15 table, now should they? Again, for the vast majority of people who enter a casino, it's entertainment, not serious business.
Now if they were sitting at a table with these same rules and the minimum was the same as your better table, that would be different, but they aren't. Are they?

While I agree with you CP, without these people casinos wouldn't exist. Do you want to know how and why a casino can offer a game with a low HE? The slot machines. Without the slot machines we wouldn't have casinos. The casino hopes that by having table games they will get you into the casino and then once your in it is a lot easier to play the slot machines than if you werent there. The slots are really the only thing that makes money in the casino. Sure Blackjack tables make money but when you look at the cost of paying the dealers, pit people and surveillance most lower limit tables that pay 3:2 are probably losing money.

You can call these people idiots but in the end they are the ones who pay our salary so to speak.

6:5 SD can be played with a big advantage if you know what you're doing and can get a spread down. What's wrong with it?
