It’s just because dealer busts less in 8 vs 5. Splitting always has priority over doubling, so split 4,4 vs 6.

But why 8 against 6 is triple and 8 against 5 not? And is pair of 4s against 6 is it better split or triple?

The hand 9 vs 2 is tripling but 8 vs 5 is not.

I just tried the Wizard of odds link and it works for me. It shows triple down strategies for various numbers of decks.
