Looking at every card as it's dealt

I was reading how some people don't start counting until the 1st base player gets their second card, and then they count the cards in pairs. I happen to count every card as it is dealt. Thus, I am watching EVERY SINGLE CARD getting dealt. Even after I bust, I continue to watch every single card...

Re: You don't say Automatic Monkey, did you ever go on that Midnight Cruise? If so, how did it go?

    My SD strategy for review

If I understand correctly, you'll either be betting your min or your max every hand, with no in between? I've often thought that that made sense, rather than a linear progression between the min and max bet based on the count. But, it seems that most people opt for the latter approach. Thoughts?

    Midnight Cruises

Re: You don't say Are you going on the Midnight Gambler II out of Freeport? If so, I'd love to get a full report afterwards (conditions, heat, food, gambling time, etc). Thanks and may the advantage be with you!

    Midnight Cruises

Has anyone ever gone on a midnight gambling cruise, such as the one here on Long Island which takes you out for about 5 hours of gambling? Mine offers Surrender, but I'm not sure about the other conditions. I wonder - how do you deal with "having to" play at the same casino for the full 5 hours...

    Connecticut vs Atlantic City

How do the conditions at CT casinos compare to those at AC? Are they more winnable, or about the same? And, how is the heat in CT for a low-level player like myself ($5-$30)? Are there other options within driving distance of NYC besides these? Thanks!

    Flow Worshippers

I had a much more pleasant blackjack experience yesterday in Atlantic City (compared to my previous trip) not only because I came out ahead, but also because I managed to avoid worshippers of "the flow" throughout most of the day. I tended to end up (by luck only) with more serious, quiet...

Would you ever correct a dealer mistake in your favor?

Yesterday the following happened: The guy next to me got blackjack and the dealer paid him. The guy left his original bet in the circle. Then, when the dealer busted and paid everyone off, he paid the guy again. The guy immediately told the dealer that he had already been paid, and the dealer...

Don't let ploppy "logic" get into your head

I almost let the "logic" of a ploppy affect my decisions yesterday (probably because I was sick as a dog and not able to use 100% judgment). The ploppy explained to the person next to him that it makes sense to stand when you have a hard-15 vs a dealer Ace. The reason being that once the dealer...

    One-eyed Monster count

Funny thing happened to me at the table yesterday. Towards the end of the day, I got a monster count, by far the highest count of the day. So, clearly there was no way I was going to leave the table until I rode the count for all I could. As I was reaching for my chips to place my max bet, one...

    Atlantic City minimums

What would you say would be a reasonable bankroll and spread to have a chance at an advantage in A.C.? (At least reasonably close to my ballpark) Assume that I am wonging in and out quite frequently. Thanks.

    Atlantic City minimums

What kind of minimums can I expect on a Monday 9am-4pm? Do you think I'll be able to find any $5 mins, and if so, which casinos would be more likely to have them? I'm still pretty new at counting, so I'd much rather have a spread of $5-$20 than $10-$25. I'm going with a bankroll of $400 (maybe...

    Soft 18 basic strategy

One move that I often get dealers and ploppies looking at me like I'm nuts (and I sometimes start to question myself) is when I hit or double on a soft 18. What is the correct basic strategy move for this (or even true count variation)? My understanding is that it is Double vs 3-6, Stand vs...

Asking about the number of decks

What is the best way to find out how many decks are being used (other than estimating yourself)? I feel that if I ask the dealer, then I am flagging myself as a counter (since no one other than a counter should care how many decks are played).
