    Finally making it to Vegas

CathyRas... Unless it has changed recently, that single decker at Binions restricted double downs to totals of 10 and 11 only, so not really that great. El Cortez lets you double on any 1st 2 cards, so go there for best game in town if you are jonesing for single deck action.

Station or strip casinos hotel rooms?

Unless Palace Station has removed them recently, it charges a resort fee that is usually not quoted in public rates. So that $26 a night room may really be $40, depending on how much the resort fee is. For $40, you might be able to stay in a Strip room with no resort fee for the same price...

Nevada - take note from a state with profitable casinos

Shadroch... Since I am basic strategy player, it is not as big a deal for me, personally, whether the cards at a pitch game are dealt face up or not. I simply enjoy playing the game at the ElCo because that is old school blackjack dealing etiquette, which is becoming rare to find. I have...

Considering that most pit bosses place the House Edge at 2 % for blackjack, they could theoretically get...

    Wheeling Island Eliminated Surrender

If you really want to see if somebody knows their Basic Strategy surrender strategy, see if they surrender their 17 in a H17 game against a dealer Ace. It is kind of the surrender equivalent to doubling A8 vs. dealer 6 in H17 games. The most annoying thing for me is when the ploppies notice...

    Wheeling Island Eliminated Surrender

At least Wheeling Island had placards on every table stating that it offered surrender. At Rivers in Pittsburgh, I don't ever remember seeing such a thing. For all of the talk about ploppies surrendering too often with foolish hands (13 vs. 8, etc.), I have not seen this much when I've...

In NJ, looking for decent $5 tables

When I was at the Showboat in mid-June, the lone $5 table was no longer available. I asked the pit boss if this was permanent, and he replied "for the time being, yes". Perhaps someone who has been to Showboat more recently can verify if this is still the case? The House of Blues section...
