Questions about ace spliting and double down

Hi folks,

I was just at my local casino. At their high limit table $100/$300, they use an automatic shuffler, and take out the 6 shoe deck on a card rack and allow the players to cut the shoe. There is no mid shoe entry. BJ pays 3 to 2. Dealer stands on 17. Can double down on any card. One can split any pairs from 2-2 to T-T. I forgot to ask about surrender and the dealer said something about ace splitting. She said it kind of fast and I totally forgot what she said. I plan to go back and inquire again.

What would be a good rules for being allowed to split pair of aces. I mean should I ask to see if they allow double down, or how many time can one split aces or to double down afterwards. I tried to find out in blackjack books, but not sure which book I should consult.

Most casinos allow ace splitting one time and only one additional card for each split ace. Only several casinos allow ace re-splitting.

Any rule which gives you more options is beneficial provided that it is sometimes correct to make those plays. Being allowed to double or hit after splitting aces is therefore clearly beneficial.

@gronbog ah kk. thank you. Can I ask for the case of late surrender, does that mean a player can surrender anytime after the dealer has checked their hole card, Including if the dealer's hand is not 21 but higher than the player's??
