Cutting low cards out of play / high cards into play

If you can steer the high cards to yourself, how much would it be worth to steer the low cards (2-7) to the dealer? What if you could steer it as their hole card? It seems like something worth figuring out and practicing.

Won my biggest poker pot ever!

The draws aren't dead. Opponent's range, assuming he's a normal not good player, is probably 88+, Suited Aces, and most broadway. A somewhat likely hand in KQ is getting 26 to 1 odds for an 11 to 1 draw. The same with a less likely KT or QT. Likely hands like KK, QQ and TT are even...

If you are going to split Tens...

I see what you are saying. I misunderstood. You weren't saying 15 v T and 16 v 9 are variance decreasing, you are saying they are non-variance which means they have no effect on variance. I still don't see why you lumped 88 v T in with 15vT and 16v9. Are you saying 88 v T is a non-variance...

If you are going to split Tens...

15 v T and 16 v 9 are not "non-variance" plays. They are changing the decision that gives you the best EV and the best chance of winning that one initial bet. Hit/Stand indexes don't change variance. Double, split, surrender and insurance decisions change variance. Examples of "non-variance"...

    1st Base Counting

In my opinion, acting last will have some benefit in pitch games, where seeing 2-4 extra cards can change the TC by +/-2 to +/-4. In the example 12 v 4 in a SD game this might be the difference between hitting at -1 TC with 35 cards left and standing at +3 TC with 31 cards left. I'm sure there...

Long time poker player wants to learn BJ now...

Most poker players suck at blackjack and most blackjack players suck at poker because most poker players suck at poker and most blackjack players suck at blackjack. Hopefully anybody who takes the time to come to this site also takes the time to study the game to develop advantage skills.

    wrong play

I'm not experienced in tournaments either but I would say you played it correctly. Assuming if you get the same result or better than your opponent (you both win, lose, or tie, you win and he ties/loses, or you tie and he loses) then you win the tournament. You have to figure out what your...

    Poker ... Books, Tips etc

I should have pointed out that this is internet play, which is relative to Harman's situation. Micro/low games on Pokerstars is what I have been playing, .10/.20 to .50/1.00. I've been keeping track and since I've tightened up significantly I've won 13 out of 16 sessions, consciously trying...

    Poker ... Books, Tips etc

This is 100% fine if your goal is to play an exciting game and have fun throwing money around. On the other hand, I think most people here have the goal of maximizing their EV/variance ratio and limit hold'em is a very good game to do that. I play low limit HE. Position isn't very important...

    Illustrious 18 with 6 deck..

I see that now. The indexes my eyes went to first were 12v2 and 12v3 showing 4.5 and 2.8 while I use 3 and 2. They are probably the furthest off on the chart.

I dabbled in currency trading before I found blackjack. But then I realized, in my opinion, blackjack is easier and more fun than ForEx. These are the sites that I used. http://www.oanda.com http://www.fxcm.com I recommend reading this before getting started...

Different basic strategy for different tables?

http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php?numdecks=5+decks&soft17=h17&dbl=all&das=yes&surr=ls&peek=no According to CBJN this is 5 decks. So you will lose over the long term about 66 cents for every $100 bet with perfect play. CBJN doesn't say it is no peek though.

    $5 tables in AC

Showboat had a $5 table a couple months ago. It was H17 like all of Harrahs but it was easy for me to get on. I was passing time waiting for a poker tournament. It was about 10AM on a weekday. It was full after I sat down but nobody was waiting. If you can't get on a $5 table then...

    Zen betting schedule

I'm a little confused about where in this thread you were misquoted? You advised to spread 25-300/400 on an 8 decker with a 6k roll. Somebody questioned that advise. Somebody else ran a sim showing 66.2% RoR vs doubling. Then they asked you to explain yourself multiple times. I assume...

    Wheel in Poker

I found my mistake from earlier. The cards that don't make a wheel aren't 47/47 or 46/46, they should be 43/47 or 42/46 or whatever depending on where they are. Therefore, First five cards = 1/2538 First six cards = 1/503 Seven cards = 1/171
