In A.C. Trump and Harrahs stores are advertising $1 BJ.

I immediately thought that they must be charging a per-hand fee and giving the worst imaginable rule set.

If there are 7 (filled) seats and the dealer is quick enough s/he can deal perhaps 100 hands per hour.

If they charge a 25¢ per person fee then the casino will collect $1.75 x 100 = $175 per hour.

If the average player wager is just $3.00 and they play with the worst of rules and absurd homegrown
varieties of strategy the house should net (at minimum) an additional 6% of $3.00 x 7 x 100 = $126 per hour.

$175 + $126 = $301 per hr.

Is this sufficient for the house to provide a scenario as described ?

I have no idea of what their heavily advertised scheme is ?

I suppose that this is marketing to suck in fledgling degenerate gamblers.

While I am not familiar with the $1 games at Trump, nor Harrah's properties, Resorts added a $1 game with ante, over a year ago, so I suspect the others to be following suit, Flash. While I never played the $1 game at resorts, I did watch it for a few minutes late last spring. The idea behind your numbers is correct, but they aren't coming close to 100 hands per hour. No regular BJ game with seven players does. Add in the extra time of scooping up the ante, even though it only takes a couple seconds per round. What does take slightly more is people getting change for the ante quite often. Add to this that many folk that are playing this game are not that experienced at blackjack and this game grinds to a crawl. I'll bet the rounds per hour is closer to 30.

While I would never play that game, the thought that crossed my mind is that having even a couple such tables takes up space on the floor that would otherwise be occupied by a couple low limit $5 or $10 tables. During crowded times (does AC still have these...:laugh that might force a few low limit players up to the $25 tables, which would impact me.

More than likely though that scenerio hasn't played out and instead they have forced those low limit players out the door. And when the uneducated players playing that ante game start to realize after several or many trips, that they never win, (and why would they...playing against double digit house advantage) they will stop playing too and the bottom line will be that they drove away a few more of their ever dwindling customer base.
