16 v 10 - deviating from BS

If all forms of BS instruct you to hit this hand why do Revere's BJ as a Business and Wongs Pro BJ tell you to stand with a zero true count? All hands in BS are computed from a fresh deck(s) minus the cards dealt in that hand. So why does a counter play this different?

Casinos around here(no hole card) allow late surrender except you lose your entire surrender vs a dealer BJ. I figure this is a better play then going with the play adjustment.

16 vs 10 is the closest play in BJ - BS factors in the cards you are holding. The difference between hittong/standing with this hand could be just 1 card in 300. zg

I had an old(mid-60s) BJ book by Scarne, where he recommends standing on all 16s.
He also has some unkind words about Prof.Thorp and the
"pseudo science' of card counting. Fraud isone of the nicer words he used,if I recall correctly.
