Sharky,

YOU posted:

"i just assumed that the odds were always against you and it is a luck (or streaky) GAMBLE...a la roulette"

To which I replied:

"learn that "streakiness" in games is no more than casino mythology."

You then posted:

The nature of a hot roll in craps generally has a packed table where the right bettor wins every bet except the idiot prop bets for the entire time. Most players who don't press their bets normally start to do so. Fourteen people winning on every throw of the dice for 20 to 45 minutes. The potential for a huge loss is staggering. Likewise the darksiders on a cold table. They can win with large odds a lot in a short time when that 7 keeps wiping out the right bettor. After one of these runs for either side lasts long enough they either convert to the side that is winning or get wiped out and are replaced by people on the winning side. Dark side bettors are less common so this replacement factor is felt more strongly on a hot roll. Add in a high roller or 2 and the effect can be devastating. Huge casino losses in a very short time.

Its streaky in that at roulette idiots just bet every number. Do when one guy is winning spin after spin, its no big deal because the other idiots are hedging. Craps is kind of like everyone just betting on one number. If everyone in a casino playing blackjack were to combine their wagers and play one spot, blackjack would be streaky.
