Best Casino in Vegas?

I have not yet been lucky enough to visit the 'Sin City' gambling king Las Vegas but I meen to go sometime next year.

Anyway I was wondering from those of you who have been yourself or heard from friends and family, what is the best Casino/Hotel in Vegas?

I know that there will be few such as the MGM Grand, the Bellagio and the Luxor on the shortlist but i'm handing the choice over to you...

Best people watching- Paris,Hard Rock
Best lo-roller gambling-El Cortez
Best Hi-roller gambling- I havn't a clue.
Best afternoon show on a budget- Mac King at Harrahs
Best evening show on a budget- Bobby Slayton at Hooters.( Free when you sign up for card)
Best happy hour on the strip- Maggianos in the Fashion Mall.
Best bargin in Vegas- Shrimp cocktail at The Golden Gate.

What constitutes the "best"? Lowest limits? Highest limits? Best scenery? Most accessible? What's "best" for you may not be what's best for me.

If you think clarifying this question is "complicated," I would hate to see you at the blackjack table. What's the "best" counting system? What are the "best" playing conditions? What's the "best" bet spread?

But to answer your question most specifically, asking the right question will improve the value of the responses.

I'm certainly willing to share what casino has the best buffet, or which hotel has the best room for the price, or tell what I know of blackjack rules and penetration. Heck, I could even answer what my favorite casino is or why it's my favorite. But I'm not going to guess what Conti is looking for.

If other people want to play "guess what I'm really asking" then go ahead.

Rooms - Wynn / Palazzo (prefer over Venetian just because its newer). Not counting places like "The Hotel" "MGM Suites" etc.

What's so good about "Best happy hour on the strip- Maggianos in the Fashion Mall." Just wondering so I can make it a point to go.

Ugh. I can't stand eating half price food any more. I'd rather pay full price for the Bellagio buffet and eat food I want to eat, but that's me.

The best advice I can give you is before going to Vegas you should go to bj21.com and purchase the current copy of CBJN (current blackjack news). I find it very accurate for Vegas but you must remember that at most places pen depends on the dealer and minimums tend to go up when the casino is busy.

Basically your betting level is a very important factor. There are casinos that offer good games at levels like $25 and above but real bad games at lower levels. There are places where a $5 game they offer is superior to the $500 game offered at another casino.
There is no one casino with the best games, there are many casinos that offer good games along with bad, so knowing more about you can help in giving you the names of perhaps a half dozen casinos.

If you think asking for clarification is cocky, that's up to you. You could have made a one-sentence clarification ("I don't know what I want, any information would be appreciated.") and you would have had 10x the information you got.

I don't think callipygian's comments were cocky at all. The intial question asked by A. Conti was vague at best.

Is it Vegas gaming or accommodations you are interested in? If it's gaming, then is it blackjack? If it's blackjack.....are you looking for DD games, multi-deck games, best rules, best pen, no heat, low roller, hi roller, comps etc.

Had you made it clear up front then you would of received better answers for your request.

It is pretty difficult without specifics. If someone asked me which casino I enjoyed the most in Vegas it would be O'Sheas, it was some party.

However, if I ever found out anyone in here actually played the tables I would be very surprised. 6-5 for a shoe game - bleugh!

O'Sheas is pretty fun, and the craps tables there aren't bad (I think they're limited to 3x odds, but they're usually $5 or $10 minimum so it's fun to play).

Don't be surprised at the 6:5 shoe game - O'Sheas is an HEI property.
