Coming back from loss

Exciting for me but maybe ordinary for others. Was down about $600 and thought I was done for the night. A little dejected but I check my wallet and realized I had another $150. Ended up having a great run with that and turned that $150 into about $1200. :eek:

Started cooling off, switched tables and stopped when I had $1000 in my pockets and I called it a night.

Some notable plays. Had a $75 bet down, split aces, got another ace and split again. Three hands. $75/each. Dealer busts. $225!!! Also had two hands with $100/bets, dealer shows an ace so I bought insurance (which I never do but it was too rich for my blood). Yup. Dealer BJ and I get it all back. Whew!

Probably tipped the dealer a good $150 throughout the night.

Hey nice story...I was with you all the way .................Right up till you said you tipped off all your profits for the next 10 trips!!!!!!!!!! What the heck???? LOL She must a been one hell of a good looking dealer....or?????????? :cool:

No, I came home with $250/profit in my pocket. Not sure what I tipped really but I threw a few $25/chips at her throughout the night and wagered her tips several times and won. She was nice and I'm a sucker for nice. When I like someone/someplace I like to tip big. Life is too short. Make people happy. :p

Ouch, tipping 37.5% of your profit. Don't care how nice or how "hot", it's suicide to tip like that.

I don't like to stiff the dealers either on a good night, makes me look really cheap. So I usually tip 1-2% of the win, still cuts into the bottom line though. This is a tough game with huge variance. Tipping while winning is going to kill you when the cards don't go your way later in the night. How much of having to keep digging in your pocket was from tipping the dealer?

Save the tips to the end, once you've declared yourself the winner, and then be reasonable. If you tip them $10 over a two hour period that's a nice addition to the $7-10/hr that most of them make.

If there is another casino near you, sometimes its better to walk with the $600 loss and play at the other casino. Having a relatively large loss on your record prolongs your ability to play.
Tipping a dealer $150 is frat boy behavior. If you can't get over that mentality, your chances of long term success are null and void.

She'd have to be a "10" and demonstrate sucking a golf ball through a garden hose to be tipped like that!
You don't have to ruin yourself to make people happy. Moderate tipping, friendly conversation and a few smiles either do it, or the person isn't worth the effort.

jw if you were counting cards? Because if you were, then the decision to take insurance shouldn't be a function of how much money you have on the table unless you need to reduce variance and have a bj (even money). If you weren't counting cards, then congrats on your good luck!

Tipping is an art one must learn over time and it should, must, be a part of a skilled AP's arsenal.;):)
