Counting methods

I have been using 3 different counting methods . When I first learned how to count I used the running count of ever + & - card leaving the deck. I thought my counting days were over the first trip. I then practiced cancelling cards as fast as I could( after the deal ) 4/Q 6/J k/Q 8/10 9/3 8/A J/K = MIN 5 . First 3 hands m 2 , last 4 m3 = m 5 This is ok if you have a slow dealer. I tried to get the count down to 3 seconds on a full table ,but was surprised how fast a dealer can be & D BJ made it even harder. I use this method with 3 or less players. My 3rd is to wait till all the cards have been dealt & follow the dealer to each spot & cancel out EX> 4/Q 6/J would be blank. I would like to hear some methods you guys use.. POGO

start counting as the second card comes out for the first hand and move down the table till everyone has 2 cards, then count each additional card per hit

That is a good method & I have used it . I just find that few seconds dealer is dealing both cards gives me about 10 seconds of free time to look around playing a full table. Thank's

deck in your pocket

Run through the deck more. Get yourself under 25 seconds and then you can count as the cards leave the dealers hands, that way you don't have to think about the cards again. Leaves you with more time to really act out your cover. And you will feel more confident doing so.

But alas I am a NOOBIE myself, so take anything I say with a grain of salt

Since I'm a red chipper, I feel it allows me to play marathon sessions. So far so good. I play shoes and more full tables than I wish.

As such I find it much more mentally taxing to count each card as it leaves the dealer's hand than to count each hand after the second card arrives as someone described above. But I usually wait for the dealer to finish a few hands if the table is full, so there are more chance to cancel.

For me it's not about, whehter I'm ABLE to count each card as it leave the hand (b/c of fatigue issues). But the speed at which I can cancel out hands. Depending on hand composition I can count a full table of cards (after they've all been dealt) in just a few seconds. The secret is cancelling out cards in a hand or cancelling several hands against each other.

I always play first base (if possible). Having a drink in you hand can give me that extra second or two and not seem like I'm stalling if the cards come out arranged in a way that is difficult to cancel at a glance.

Probably the Best, Probably the hardest or Easiest?

All hands are dealt and you count with cancelling each hand; you do this in seconds, then pick up the hit plays. If the dealer has an A up you would like to have the table scanned before she potentially turns over her bj.

round count

scan whole table in a glance .. mostly 20's at spot 1 are cancelled by 7 at spot 2.. It's little better for camo - you must be staring at hot dealers not the cards..

Thank's , I use this system & works very well with 4 or less players . I have been working on getting my count down to 3 or 4 seconds on a full table . Its funny, I can count 4 hands at a glance by cancelling out, but that extra handsI have trouble with & lose count with a fast dealer. Thank's for the feed back. POGO
