Couple Questions

#1
This past weekend was my first time at a casino counting cards. I was amazed at how effortless it was to follow the count. But I do have some questions making bets and other things. 1] Should I wait for the count to be high at the end of the shoe to bet high or should i lay down big bets whenever the count is high? 2] The seating arrangement has me wondering a bit. Is it best to sit to the right of the dealer or does it matter?

What most counters do is to vary their bets depending on what the count is.

For example:

True count= +1, 0, or negative, bet 1 unit.
TC= +2, bet 2 units,
TC= +3, bet 3 units,
and so on.

This is just a basic example. There is lots of info and past topics on this on this forum.

Same with the seating, its been talked about many times. Most counters would probably sit third base (dealers right hand).

I think where you sit depends on how the cards are dealt.
Sitting at 3rd base helps more in a game where the cards are dealt face up,so you have seen all the cards in the round and can change your play according to the most current count.
In a facedown game,I prefer 1st base,so I can get my play over with,and then have more time to count the rounds cards so I know what to bet next round.
Plus,in a handheld game,there is the occasional slip by a dealer which allows you to know what your first card next round will be,and you can adjust your bet accordingly.

All this is of course correct.

I would add that if you are playing at a full table it may be difficult for you to see 1st base's cards if you are at 3rd base, so in the middle may be suitable.
