CVBJ runs like a charm on Ubuntu using Wine, no reason for me to touch a Windows machine anymore. :toast:

Thanks Norm, but this is Ubuntu Linux and Wine for an environment.
I actually resolved the first error by running
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/regsvr32.exe ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/cpwctl32.ocx
That gave an error about missing MFC40.DLL which I copied over to wine and then the ocx registered just fine.
However, I then start getting errors about MS Agent which isn't installed under Wine yet. I'm still working on it.
If I figure out a sequence of steps that work to get CV running, I'll make a blog entry about it.

Installing Casino Verite under Wine for Ubuntu Linux
1) Install MFC40.DLL (you may want to use winetricks for this.)
2) Install MS Agent.
3) Install CVBJ.
4) Disable any advanced graphics desktop handling in Ubuntu. (System / Preferences / Appearance / Visual Effects / None)
5) Run CVBJ using the new desktop icon.
Cassie is still missing, but the rest of the program seems to function fine.
I think I'll probably stick with rebooting into Windows, but it is nice to have an option.

The only problem I had with Cassie is that she was in a purple box. But besides that it was working fine.

How about using Wine for OS X? I hate having to boot into Windows to run the only two programs that I use it for (CVBJ and CVCX).

I have Wine for OS X, I use it to run Poker Stove.
Pardon my ignorance as I know nothing about this wine for os x, but if I already have cv installed on the windows partition of my mac, will this let me run it without rebooting into windows and without reinstalling cv, or do I need to install cv a second time in this wine environment?Lonesome Gambler said:

WINE is a compatibility layer. It translates windows system calls into linux (or mac) system calls. Its much faster than a virtual machine, but you will need to reinstall under the WINE environment. Sometimes WINE lacks the becessary skills to use certain programs, but if you can get cvbj installed under WINE for Mac, it will save you A LOT of time.
