CVCX Question

I was finally able to purchase and download the full versions of Casino Vérité and CVCX recently due to the acquisition of a cheap PC laptop. I have been using the new software extensively, but I have noticed one oddity with CVCX.

Whenever I examine a sim, whether new or canned, the optimal bets always seem to max at +2 (Zen). This seems strange to me, as I know that Hi-Lo players tend to use +5 and Zen (so I have heard) +8 or thereabouts.

To give one example, for a $10k BR, 8 deck S17 DAS Sr, 6.62/8 pen, 4 players, play all, 1-16 spread with 10% RoR, the optimal bets are given as follows:

<= 0 bet $10
+1 bet $100
>= +2 bet $160

This results in a win rate of $28.73/hr.

Adjusting the custom bets to a more "normal" spread...

<= 0 bet $10
+1 bet $20
+2 bet $55
+3 bet $90
+4 bet $125
>= +5 bet $160

results in a win rate of $6.62/hr! And that is maxing Zen at +5 and not the
+8 that I have seen recommended!

Granted that 8 deck play all are pretty tough conditions, but with a 1-16 spread and a top bet of $160 I would think that one could expect a bigger take than six bucks an hour - without resorting to jumping one's bet from $10 to $100 based on an increase of 1 in the TC. :eek:

Zen 1998, the newer version of Zen, divides by remaining quarter decks instead of full decks. That greatly compresses the true count requiring a max bet at +2 for play-all. You really need to bet by half-true counts if you do this. Click on Half True Counts to see a betting schedule by half-TC.

Thanks for the quick reply QFIT! I switched over to "Zen Original" and that seems to have remedied the problem. The optimal bet for that selection with my parameters maxes at +7, which is more along the lines of what I had expected.
