Doubling/splitting at the table max limit

What happens near the maximum table limits for doubling and splitting?

Let's assume the table maximum is $300. And you've put out $300 x 2 spots.

In the first spot, you get AA, and you want to split this. Are you allowed to put down another $300 to split the aces?

In the second spot, you get 8-3. You want to double, are you allowed to put down another $300 to double down?

Does this vary by casino? or part of the country?

Table max only limit the initial bet amount. it doesn't affect the rule of the game. So you can still split and/or double down.

There are some exceptions to this. I know with Sp21 redouble games, some places limit your total bet to table max. Wouldn't be surprised if the same were true of BJ at some places. best to ask before you bet, if you're near the limit.

I've seen signs that say something along the line of max "aggregate" bet.
I'm not sure, but I think that means the allowed max bet accounts for all the hands and doubles and splits.
The next time I see it, I'll ask to be sure.

Once in a casino with 500max, I've seen a sign saying:
no partnership/aggregate may exceed table max.. After asking the question to pit, he answered "It's only applicable to team of card-counters. If you know what I am talking?"
