Down Card

If you're unable to see the dealers down card, such as when surrendering or busting at certain stores, how does this affect the count? Best I can gather from what I've read, there should be no adjustment to the count, same as if the down card was behind the cut card....correct?

Thanks,

Yes, just ignore the unseen card like it was behind the cut card. Since the only unseen cards will be when the entire table surrenders or busts, you shouldn't miss many cards so the effect will be minimal.

I know what you are talking about, just play with a couple other players and that will lessen the bad event to it being almost unnoticable.

But as Ken said when it happens just figure it as an unseen card.

The real problem arises when you are heads up...I have that worked out but it is a hassle.

Treat it as an unknown card, but subtract it from the decks played. If there aren't too many cards burned, this is a trivial number, but if the dealer burns a card every hand heads-up, this could reduce your penetration significantly.
