The employees of the Emerald Queen Casinos in Washington are required to work on typically busy days (holidays & weekends) even when they are sick. Failure to do this can result in termination of employment. With the threat of the Swine Flu, the Puyallup Tribe are considering altering this policy.

Washington Casino Considers Changes to Illness Rule (Seattle Times)

Geez, I already feel uneasy about handling sticky chips at the BJ tables. Nice to know that the dealers could have the flu and be contagious and the management thinks that's OK. I wonder if that's the standard policy in other tribal casinos in the area?

I wonder how they would react if I pulled out a pair of rubber gloves before I played? That is just wrong on so many levels.

FORCING an employee who is ill to work is, of course, a violation of Labor Law.

However, Indian casinos operate with complete impunity to State / Federal laws as they are sovereign nations.
