First Time Out...Again?

Hello All,

I just wanted to say 'hello' to everyone on this board, you have all been a big help on my new found past time. This site (along with all of your posts) has been more than helpful on my learning to card count escapades. As shameful as it is, I have to admit I am a recruit from the movie '21', but in my own defense I know that the game itself is nothing like the movie and I know what is in store for myself.

Tonight was my first time out to the casino (Mohegan Sun) since I have taught myself how to start counting. I did not play due to the fact that I am still learning and the rules for this place were decent, but the penetration was sub par. However, I did find out that practicing counting until I can get a single deck below 20 seconds is very helpful. Every dealer I came across was very easy to keep up with. I also found out that backcounting isn't as ackward as it seems. There was a website that quoted "When you walk in you will feel like you have 'counter' written in big red letters on your forehead" and man was it right, but after awhile of hovering over a few tables no one really paid attention to me.

Overall it was a positive trip for a beginner like myself to take and a big part in the learning process in my opinion. It seems like this isn't a game where you can just jump right in and expect to come out okay.

I guess what I'm saying is it looks like this is going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to learn everything I possibly can. In summary: Thanks for all the help and hopefully when I go to Vegas in late December maybe I will grow a pair and try playing... :cool2:

Also, I saw on the table it said "Dealer stands on all 17's" is this known as H17 or S17? I've tried looking up which one is better for the player, but I can't seem to find it.

Pwn, how many blunts did you smoke before deciding to post every comment you made in this thread to prove a point?? My guess is around 7 because no sober mind would take the time to do that. :cool2:

They deleted it - Sort of like what the government does to innocent bright minded individuals everyday --- They strip them of their blessed minds and use them as pissing poles... lol

Regardless, as I am one of those self-proclaimed bright minded individuals I know when I am walking on thin ice lol.... I feel as though I am in the warning stages at this moment - Next stage is a suite paying me a visit

Good luck "ekimlacks" - I wish you a prosperous lucrative future

ekimlacs, for the most part (other rules, conditions equal) h17 holds more house advantage than s17.

compare the links above and look at HA (house advantage)
Thanks for the clarification Sagefr0g.

A more appropriate way of saying it would be... Thank you FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS - Judging by your comment, I feel that you believe this is a mandatory thing, do not take it for granted. He is not a paid employee, but rather a non-profit contributer

On a side note bro... Noob to Noob -- Honestly go and buy BlackBelt in BlackJack by Arnold Snyder... It is the closest thing to a " BlackJack Bible " as you can get -- Then after you learn about negative flux and all the real life horror stories that are inevitable with out rigorous strategically planned out betting spreads, only then will I say - Hey this guy is serious!

BBiB is an excellent book, but I wouldn't say Bible. It is definately one of the best books for a beginner to get. I would say "Blackjack Attack" By Don Schlesinger is better, personally. Its a great book to read after you learned the basics (Like in BBiB). If you haven't already, I recommend you read this book, Pwn. Gives lots of good info about the I18 F4, wonging, SCORE, and lots of great statistical info.

For sure - I heard that BlackJack Attack was a more advanced book for later, but I am going to Barnes & Nobles after work today and buying Professional BlackJack and then I will buy this also, thank you!

First off it was your comment that forced him to act, so it should be you appologizing. Not me thanking him.

I know what a moderator is, thank you for your help anyways though.

Wow, something that is actually relevant to blackjack. Finally some constructive input.

Oh, this is funny. Someone that isn't even 21 and hasn't even played blackjack in Vegas is going to tell me about real life horror stories. Thanks for telling me what I need to know to have your approval of me being a serious player.

I have been looking at this site for about 3 months without saying anything, so when I finally do it wouldn't turn into a flame war like you're trying to make it. This was nothing more than a small introduction and me thanking the members of this site that I have actually learned from.

Thanks for your best wishes on a lucrative future earlier though. </end flamewar>

Not that I have any say in the matter, but cmon Pwn... Not everyone puts the same amount of time and effort into learning blackjack as others. Calm down and instead of yelling at others and criticizing everything, try to be helpful to those that knows less than you. We were all once new at this game needed help with things that may now seem like common knowledge. We want to have a respectful relationship with the other members of the forum (even believers of voodoo). Read the Posting Guidelines. You don't want to be banned, do you?

disagree, Sonny/other mods have cleaned up this mess quite nicely recently with all the pruning. unfortunately they are not den mothers and shouldnt have to keep an eye out constantly for this nonsense, especially when it's one n00bie insulting another. i say give this pwn one more chance and if he continues, just stop answering his 1 out of 13 posts which are actually valid questions.

Hopefully I should be down by Mohegan Sun again today. Curious to see the turn out since today is a holiday, but I feel like rewarding myself due to it being Veterans Day and all. Anyone else going to be down (or up?) that way?

Have you tried foxwoods?

I am not a super frequent visitor to conn casinos. (3 days every other month), but it has been my experience over the past couple of years, that Foxwood offers usually offers much better penetration than Mohegan Sun.

Agreed. While I have never gone to MS, the general concensus is that while they have the same rules (although MS has ns10), FW has better pen.

Yes the pen is better at FW, but look around before you play. I noticed Sat. some dealers cutting more then the usual out of play.

FW has only 8 deck on the main floor vs MS where all tables are 6D. You can occasionally find a dealer cutting better pen, but you have to search around for them.

If you play HL then MGM or FW is the hands down winner.

Good Luck

Just a reminder that the Ignore User option can be a very handy tool for filtering junk. It saved my sanity during the SilentBoB phase.
