Hello All,
I just wanted to say 'hello' to everyone on this board, you have all been a big help on my new found past time. This site (along with all of your posts) has been more than helpful on my learning to card count escapades. As shameful as it is, I have to admit I am a recruit from the movie '21', but in my own defense I know that the game itself is nothing like the movie and I know what is in store for myself.
Tonight was my first time out to the casino (Mohegan Sun) since I have taught myself how to start counting. I did not play due to the fact that I am still learning and the rules for this place were decent, but the penetration was sub par. However, I did find out that practicing counting until I can get a single deck below 20 seconds is very helpful. Every dealer I came across was very easy to keep up with. I also found out that backcounting isn't as ackward as it seems. There was a website that quoted "When you walk in you will feel like you have 'counter' written in big red letters on your forehead" and man was it right, but after awhile of hovering over a few tables no one really paid attention to me.
Overall it was a positive trip for a beginner like myself to take and a big part in the learning process in my opinion. It seems like this isn't a game where you can just jump right in and expect to come out okay.
I guess what I'm saying is it looks like this is going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to learn everything I possibly can. In summary: Thanks for all the help and hopefully when I go to Vegas in late December maybe I will grow a pair and try playing... :cool2:
Also, I saw on the table it said "Dealer stands on all 17's" is this known as H17 or S17? I've tried looking up which one is better for the player, but I can't seem to find it.
