I'm wondering if it's the same format as the free ones that they have on Friday nights where you only get 15 hands or if it's longer. Also do you know if you have to register by 12pm (before tournament starts) or can you do so later? I've tried contacting them and it seems as if nobody there knows.

Take a look at the total prize pool and divide by the huge number of players.
It is doubtless not even worth your time.
The quickie format means that only the luckiest players will cash.
If the total prize pool is $100,000 and there are 2,000 total invitees your e.v. is $50 for a lot of wasted time.
