Have I been detected as a card counter??

I was playing at a casino yesterday when I saw the pit boss talk to another pit boss/floor supervisor. They were right in front of me, and I heard him say in a low voice, "....card counter because max bet is only at the end of the shoe..." I could have sworn that they were talking about me. I made an effort to play my max bet when he was watching me and a new shoe started. I'm not sure if he was talking about counters in general and it just happened to be in front of me, or whether he was referring to me.

If he did know, is there any reason to not bar me? Is he just waiting for more evidence? Or am I just being paranoid?

At the same casino, on a different day, I decided to pretend to be a regular ploppy. I sat down at a CSM table, and I could swear that all the pit bosses and floor supervisors were surprised and watching me. Why would a counter play a CSM game, right? I even played the perfect pairs!

What do you think is going on? This is the last casino with a beatable game in my area. If I'm barred here, I'm done for good. :(

I do not have even hundreds of hours of live experience. I have not been 86'd or backed off anywhere, but I have experienced small amounts of heat. So, keep that in mind while considering my advice.

Any time I experience small amounts of heat, I leave almost immediately. That is, as soon as possible without looking like I know what's going on. I would not come return on the same shift for at least a year, and would not return to the same store for at least several months. If a PC suspects I'm a counter, he would feel uneasy seeing me at all. He would always be at attention to see what I'm up to. I don't want PCs to associate those feelings with my face/presence. You want PCs to feel comfortable with you around, and that may not be possible without disappearing for a while.

You should have immediately left in that situation. No reason to waste money on max bets at the beginning of a shoe. Just get out. Come back in a few months on another shift.

Intentionally playing a losing game: EV negative
Walking out and staying away for a while: EV neutral

If both of these will get rid of your heat to the same degree, choose the latter.
