It more depends on min-max buy-in

A beginner's poker book by Myers (http://www.amazon.com/Quick-Easy-Texas-Holdem---Instructional/dp/0818406534/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1311275768&sr=8-4) cites a win rate of maybe $12/hr for low limit HoldEm. Online sources are all over the map, though one post estimates 6 big bets/hr, which does equal $12 at a $1/$2 game.

What is a good estimate for a competent player at $10/$20? $120?
than big blinds..
You can assume 10% average stack per hour..

Depends too much on the game. Some low limit games you could grind $50 an hour. Some are so bad you can't beat the rake even with expert play.

Exactly, depends on what game you are playing. There is a huge difference between limit and NL due to the possibility you could lose your whole stack at any given time in NL. Short term luck is a b!tch. 10% of your buy in is accurate in most cases.

The important thing is action, and particularly willingness to stack-off in NL.
