How to manipulate the dealer to reveal the burned card.

In Atlantic City and Connecticut, some dealers reveal the burned card, but most don't.
If you ask them to show you the burned card, they often make an annoying comment about card-counting.
One of them showed me the burned card and said "minus 1".
A little trick I learned is to ask them to burn a specific card.
"Can you burn a 7 because that's a good luck card?"
"Please don't burn a 9 because that's always bad luck."
The dealer usually shows you the burned card and apologizes for not accommodating you.

While every piece of info helps, 1 cards in an 8 deck shoe isn't really that important. I personally wouldn't expend that much effort to see that card.

True; if all you're doing is counting. But it can make all the difference in the world if you're sequencing; or even if you're just tracking. I use ArcticInfernos' trick all the time. I even use it as a signal to my partners. For example, if I'm steering an ace to my partner, I'll tell the dealer that the burn card's a deuce. If I'm giving the dealer a 6 in the hole; I'll call out "seven".
