I need tips about blackjack comps!

hello all,
I have always heard of people getting 'comps' at casinos while playing blackjack. I have not recieved one yet and I am intregued because I heard so much about people getting them.

Here is my story, please fill me in if I could find a way to get comps.

• I usually play at minimum bet tables (usually where table minimum is $5 and I usually bet between $5 and $40 per bet).
• I gamble at Mystic Lake, Minnesota. The closest casino from there is about 50 miles. SO it is not like I am playing blackjack in vegas or anything.

In this casino there is a large adjacent hotel, and several resturants inside.

Please fill me in on the 'comps' of the casino! How would I go about getting one???

First, make sure that you've signed up with the players club at that casino. Then, when you buy-in at the table, also give your players card to the dealer. The pit will eventually come over and fill out a rating card where he will write down your average bet and time played. (It doesn't hurt to make one of your larger bets right off the bat, so he's more likely to write down a larger number at first.)

Second, ask! After you've played for a while, call the pit over and tell him you'd like him to check on a restaurant comp for you. You should either get the comp, or you'll learn what kind of action is expected instead.

I have found Ken's second suggestion to be a necessity no matter what you are betting! I have seldom been turned down for a meal comp even while betting the table minimum if I've played for an extended time. By extended, I mean several hours. Meals are a cheap PR thing for BJ pit bosses. Rooms are more geared to those who are wagering larger amounts than I, but I have received room comps as well.

To expand a bit on Mr Smith's excellant advice,I try to start my betting at twice my normal bet,and will do this for three hands,while the pitboss is watching.If lucky enough to win them,I drop my bet and state that I'm due to lose. If I lose them,I drop and say I've got to ride out the dealers hot streak.
After that,its a cat and mouse game.Try to bet more when the PB is watching,without letting him know you are doing so.I try to engage him in small talk when(if) he is at my table. Compliment him on HIS casino,blah,blah,blah.
After a few hours,simply tell him you are hungry and were wondering if he could hook you up.
Also,many casinos have certain days and hours where you earn bonus points,sometimes getting triple credit for your play.
A book I highly recommend is "Frugal Gambling",and ZG just recommended another called "Comp City" to me.
Bottom line-Be sure you are a member of the players club,make sure your play is recorded,use the promos they offer,and ask.
Exploiting the comp system is the easiest way of being an advantage player there is.Remember-The casino wants you to come as often as possible,and stay as long as posble. A few meals,show tickets or even rooms cost them next to nothing, but has the potential of making them mucho money.

I have played a bit at Mystic Lake. In the past 2 years I've visited probably 20 times. The only time I've paid for hotel or food is the first time.

First thing to do is get their players card. Won't get anything without it. Give it to the pit boss whenever you change tables. Sometime they will catch if you move but most of the time they won't. I was told by a pit boss once to not bother turning in the card if all you are betting is $5. I generally play at $10 for about 15 minutes and if it's going ok, I'll keep it there. If the dealer gets hot, I'll drop to $5 but make comments like "Throw some ice on this dealer. He's so hot he's gonna burn the place down"
