Best sure fire way not to give back your profits? Take a few self addressed stamped envelopes with you to the cage, ask for your winnings in a check, walk directly to the lobby mail box, and send it home.

I usually try to get somewhere close to 40 or 50% of my walk in bank roll, and send off the first one, and if I'm not discouraged by being annoyed by the crowds, tired, or hungry, I'll give it a second try, and so on, and so on. I try not to ever sit for more than any 4 hour periods at a time, and never ever celebrate until I'm done for the day.

Curiosity...

I am forever trying to get a handle on how others manage their money, to see what others expect to achieve and over what time frame -- I'm wanting to determine if my expectations of self are reasonable, or too high or low, to calibrate myself. If you don't mind saying, how much of a bankroll do you typically bring? How consistently or reliably do you find yourself earning your stated 40-50% on top of that? Is 4 hours a typical time frame in which to do so, or is that strictly an upper bound for you?

For a one-point brief comparison of my very amateur self, last evening at a nearby casino, I bought in for $300, played an hour at a $10 table, profited $200.

(And if you do mind saying... well, that's fine of course, I'll find suitable comparison points somewhere down the line.)

Usually my bank roll is twenty times my betting unit size. For example if I am playing at a $25. minimum table, I will have a $500. bank roll.

Often I'll look for a $10. or $15. minimum table with a $500. bank roll and my first bet will be a $25. bet if I win that round I'll keep it at $25. until I have won $125. or up 5 units before I increase to a $50. bet. Once I'm up 6 units or $150. I'll continue to add another $25. chip as long as I keep winning. Often if you find yourself up 5 or more units you are going to be determined to not miss the ride because it seldom happens. Keep in mind, there could be times when you have more than 2 splits and/or double downs with each round. Many times the cards are going to allow you to surpass a positive 10 units once you up above 5 units.

Now the more realistic type of shoe will often put you loosing the first round with the $25. bet and puts you in the negative at -1 unit, if you are playing on a $25. table keep playing at $25. but if you're not bet the minimum until you are back even, and try $25. again.

This may see-saw back and forth, the main thing here is to keep track of you win / lose record by placing a chip either in front or behind your stack to keep track. If you have a stack of 5 or 6 behind your bank roll, you are not in a good shoe, and there are either shills at the table, drunks, or amateurs, and the dealer isn't asking "are you sure you want to take a card" in those unusual plays. You could do several things here, get up and leave, sit out round or two, or until the end of the shoe, or you could continue to play and just hope to make it back. I have seen people get killed thinking that they have never lost so many times in a row and it's due to win, putting up larger and larger bets...not a good play at all. You will be doing the walk of shame before you know it.

If you up a couple of rounds and then even and then down a few rounds, and then even, the second time you are either up or even, it's only a moderate shoe and you can be there for hours and hours just trying to make 40-50% of you bank roll. If your not up at least 25% in an hour or 90 minutes, and your about even, get out. The shuffle doesn't really change things that much.

I try to play at a table with at least 4 playing if not I'll consider playing two spots, but that can get expensive. I also try to sit at third base, if not the next seat over, simply because that player sees more cards before the decision to either hit, stand, split, double, and sometimes surrender. If the casino offers surrender, I will sometimes bet twice the usual amount and exercise the surrender if you know your hand has little or no chance of winning.

If you expect to win more than 50% of you bank roll because you've had previous outings when you were up over 200%, you are wet behind the ears.

Realistically speaking every time you get up 40 - 50 % of your walk in bank roll, you should send it home in a self addressed envelope, and start over again with your original bank roll. Any time you are way down and finally break to even, stop after the next losing round. Go eat, go take a sleeping pill and sleep for a few hours, you are not having a bad day but you will if you continue during that particular playing session.

Bunch of mistakes:

• Use safe box
• If no safe box, then lock it in your bag..
• In case one has to go to bathroom, why left the money in open?
• If can't take money to bathroom, request woman to stay out of the room.
• If can't even say that, suppress the temptation.

After series of mistakes, I guess he is lucky enough to get robbed only couple of thousands. A lot of damage could have been done. I personally have rejected many tempted(not very) offers even with safe box..

The voodoo board is reserved for false strategies. The advice given here by the OP may be not particularly USEFUL for SOME of us, but is VERY good advice for others. It certainly does not rise to the level of voodoo.

Well that is all fine and dandy,,if you want to do it that way.. Guess it works for you.
For me...It's my lively hood...I take it so serious and work so hard at it to make a living, why would i even think of taking a gamble with it.
Self control his 90% of the game... I understand your point tho... If you have a problem definitely do whatever it takes to keep the money!!!!!!!
